Unfortunately most of the street art in Da Nang is just plan garbage and the people who do them should be ashamed of themselves because this isn't something that really looks even remotely good and it kind of takes away from the beauty of the entire area, which is a tourist area that some magazines have rated as one of the top 10 best beach destinations in the world.
As I have said many times before I LOVE street-art, but I HATE vandalism
All of these recent finds are not art, they are simply destruction of property and vandalism.
I suppose the "Jimboe" tag has some level of talent to it, but it still isn't great. The rest of it is straight trash. The ones that just say BD followed by a number are advertisements for taxis or something and they are all over the town. While also illegal I don't think that the police bother to track any of these people down because they only ever put it on abandoned buildings.
This looks like something that children would do and whoever did do it, did it in a hurry because this is a pretty high profile area. behind this building - which is also disgustingly used as a public urinal by loads of taxi drivers - is the beach and that is where all the tourists are. I would be a little disappointed if I paid a bunch of money to come to this place and shitey street crap like this was part of my view.
When I see this sort of garbage I have to ask myself "why are people even bothering with this?" Is it a gang thing? As strange as it sounds I kind of hope that it is a gang thing because it certainly isn't an art thing. It looks terrible.
I guess you could say that this has some element of talent to it but I still think it is ugly and an eyesore for the area.
Most of what I have posted above is on a single building that for some reason the people just refuse to tear down. The land that it is located on will almost certainly be yet another gigantic hotel someday, so I guess we'll have to wait for that to happen before we aren't looking at this thing anymore.
There is a huge difference between street art and vandalism. All of this in my mind falls into the vandalism category.
