What a strange grouping of things to have together in the same post huh?
Well I'm going to do it anyway because there is something that piqued my interest about all of these things that were noteworthy to me.
First off lets start with these grapes that were given to me by a Korean person I know that works here in Da Nang.
I'm no stranger to grapes but I have never seen a more perfect bunch of them than what was contained inside of this bag. To me this looked like i would imagine grapes would be represented as in a painting or a mobile game. They just look unreal and I expect them to be in a bowl with other plastic fake fruit. They were genuine though and they tasted different than any grapes I have ever had in my life. They were not as sweet as the ones I remember back in America and they almost had a "wine-like" taste to them.
When I told my Korean friend that I have never had any grapes like that before they were surprised and informed me that all grapes are like that in Korea. How did I never have exposure to this as a child in USA? It must be a regional thing.
Next up is the spray gun or as it is referred to by foreigners over here, the "bum gun." It is attached next to all toilets and well, that's all I need to say about that because I don't like to talk about people's toilet routines. I have seen these things on sinks in the west used for washing off dishes but never in a bathroom. To me, after being exposed to it for a while, it really made a lot more sense than paper.
The other part of this situation is that pics like the above is how I communicate with my landlord. My nozzle was broken and her English isn't the best so often, I will communicate with her only using pictures. The same day it was replaced so this gets the job done. If you live in a city and you don't speak the same language as your landlord this is actually a much more effective way of getting things done than trying to translate the name of something that you aren't even sure what it is called.
next we have a car that I have been thirsting over for a long time. They are called VinFast and they are just such a sexy machine. I have featured these vehicles before because I am fascinated with them but this one caught my eye even moreso because I really like the matte black paint job that it had on it. The owner caught me taking photos and I could see that he had a look of happiness on his face that someone thought so much of his ride. I also enjoy how the last 3 digits on his number plate just happen to be the mark of the beast as well.
I hope to be able to drive one of these one day because I recently found out that the reason why you don't see very many of them in Vietnam is because they are quite expensive. Through a partnership with BMW the engine has a bit more credibility and I suppose that is necessary because I don't think many people would be interested in a car that was completely engineered in Vietnam. They just don't have a reputation for making quality machines that are at all complicated.
These 3 things all happened in the same day and I guess it was a day that is the same as any other. Life is slow here in Da Nang and mostly those of us that live here are just trying to do as much productive shit that we can in a day before we head to happy hour. It is now 3pm on a sunday and I have already been invited to the pub by half a dozen people. Perhaps it is time that I obliged.
