How to tell Your Boss He's Wrong without Being Afraid of Retaliation

I'm a manager and feel that it's important for me to create the environment at work in which people can voice their opinions, disagree and open consultations without fear of reprisals. Any good leader knows that it's those they have around them that make the greatest difference to results.

My policy is that my staff bring me solutions rather than problems to dump on my desk...It promotes freedom of thought, creative thought, effective problem-solving from their perspective and also empowers them to take ownership and responsibility. When new ideas and strategies have great results I reward them and allow them the accolades rather than take them for myself. Makes for a happier workplace.

But that's just me, some may do it differently.

I totally agree with your strategy and I am sure it promotes a healthy work environment. Indeed, others are different unfortunately.

I don't believe it's unfortunate that others are different, but it's ok that you do.
