There are a lot of good traits that one can adopt and grow over a period of time be it socially, economically or culturally. But I think being a good listener is something that is very important. You can literally enter someone’s world by listening carefully to what they are saying. People really like it and love good listeners too when they are listened to. They want to be heard.
Sometimes all you need is a good pair of ears.
People usually love talking about themselves. And when we do listen to people, we can compliment things upon which they speak, or compliment them, and they really eat that up. Sometimes we can suggest advice which helps them to understand why things happened as they did etc.
Listening is a giving trait. We give an ear or more, like our heart. They usually appreciate it! I’d like to add one thing, often when we listen to people we can learn also!
When you listen to someone, it kinda of send signals of being important and cared for, to the other person. Who does not want to feel like that.? I guess all of us.
If there is one trait I have realized holds water above all others, it’s listening to others while they talk — the ability to put yourself in the other person’s shoes, and see life as they see it. There's nothing powerful than that.
So, keep listening to your loved ones, it doesn't cost much other than a few minutes.
I agree, being a good listener is a very good trait. It takes time and focus to be a good listener. Sadly, in this fast-paced, sound-bite world good listeners are hard to come by.
Have a great weekend!
Steem on,
Mike
