We all desire a long and healthy lives but most times are not ready to the price or too lazy to find out how. I discovered most things that make us live a healthy and longer life are simple things we take for granted. In this post, I came up with of few of those simple 'things' that can keep us away from the doctors and live longer.
Live life to the fullest.
I have seen this happen to some elderly people around, they retired from their jobs that have been keeping them busy for most part of their lives and feel retired, with no much at stake. And that is when ageing starts setting in for them. Nothing makes someone look older than lack of purpose. People that have given up on life look far older than their ages - they age very quickly. Most times it is not about the age they have attained or what they have accomplished. I have seen a man of 60 something year old living life to the fullest and a guy of 30 something year of giving up on life, mopping about, walking around with slouched shoulders and feeling life has conspired against him. It does not matter how long you have lived or you many years you think you have left...The first key to feeling and looking younger is to live life to fullest now. Once you have accomplished a goal, set a new one. There is more to life than you can ever imagine. Try new sports, new business, new adventures, move around, see new places, new culture and so on. Explore life.
Take of your body especially your skin.
As you grow older you definitely notice changes in your skin. It dries up more and loses a bit of its elasticity. It is a natural phenomenon...Most things ages especially when used constantly. Using moisturizers or anti ageing creams especially those containing the 'right' amount of vitamin A and sunscreen. Vitamin A helps nourish and protect your skin, you can get it from what you eat but a kind of faster way to get it in the right quantity is through your body cream and Sunscreen helps protect your skin from sun's ultraviolet radiation which contribute enormously the sagging and ageing of the skin. Also cover your face with a cap or hat when inside the sun. All these can help reduce the effects of ageing. You don't need to visit a spa or use expensive products. Try on creams that have right ingredients, once you have found that one that do well with you skin. Stick it
Be Active
Most times, people think of the gym when they hear of been active. To live healthy life and look younger than your age, you have to maintain a active lifestyle. To hit the gym twice a week is good, but it will be kind of counter productive if you sit on your butt for the other five days of the week. It is best to maintain a healthy lifestyle by living a healthy productive life. Leave the car behind sometimes for a walk, walk to the transport to take a public transport once in a while or ride a bike depending on your destination and other things. In addition to this, pick a sport you love as a hobby and be actively engaged in it. Before you know it you have spent hours enjoying the things you love....Bottom line move around for at least 30 minutes in a day.
Eat healthy
Educate yourself about what you put into your mouth and when you put them...eating anything and anytime you feel like eating is not a healthy life style. Eat healthy food...I am not a nutritionist. but I read eating fresh vegetables, fruits, sea foods, oily fish, healthy grains, green teas etc. makes you feel good and look healthy with good looking skin. Consume less granulated sugar, sugar-sweetened drinks, red meats and other foods that have enormous bad effects on your health. I will probably research and make a post about what to eat more and what to eat less very soon. But we are talking about our lives here, educate yourself about eating healthy, bad time to eat, how to eat (including how to chew food well).
Drink at least two liters of water a day.
Drinking at least 2 liters of water and foods with high water content like tomatoes and melon makes you feel healthy and alive every time. They help nourish your skin and remove dead cell, making look fresher. It eases digestion of food. Drinking the right amount of water means your digestive system will be doing less extra work every time to break down the food you eat. Overall drinking a good amount of water helps in digestion, circulation and excretion, hence contributing your total healthy living.
7-8 hours of quality time
Quality sleeps improve your overall metabolism-especially your immune system is greatly improved with good sleep. Many different researches have affirmed that people with the right amount of sleep are less likely to have diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases etc. You are more likely to fall sick when you sleep less continuously or have a bad sleeping habits because our bodies including our brains which control our neural activities don't function properly. And the long term effect is a part or parts of our bodies not function properly which lead to various diseases. We can slow down the ageing process and prevent different diseases...always get some.
Conclusion
You definitely cannot determine how long you are going to live. But we all want to live as long as possible and you can increase your chances by taking good care of yourself and living healthy. Also they are many habits that makes you prone to deadly sicknesses not mention in this post but I believe you must have read of them. Habits like smoking, excessive alcohol intakes, inhaling toxic substances, drugs etc. can lead to an unhealthy life and short life....Make effort to live the healthiest and longest life you can.

I am convinced that people who have a life project and plan to meet their goals, generates from their mind the conditions to successfully carry out their objectives. If we feed the mind thinking positively and we radiate that energy to our environment, we will be interposing a barrier to diseases of the body ... Very good your post ... Congratulations

Well, you were certainly spot on about one thing: No one can tell how long they will live. I've been riding a motorcycle for over 50 years and haven't met a Buick bumper yet :)
I actually live kinda sorta maybe healthy. If I'd known I was going to live this long I'd have taken better care earlier :)
