My poor gardens are taking a beating this year. This is what part of the New North garden now looks like. It will get worse, when they dig the ditch for the water line…
The one I really hated to move was my red trillium. I’ve had it since 1992. I put it into the Old North garden, as the safest place, with the most similar conditions. I do so hope it makes it.
The next one I am worried about is my Virginia bluebells. The foliage had died back and I’d never dug it before. I found an angular black root in the spot, so I hope I got it all. I planted it in a pot so I could find it.
Also above on left, sweet woodruff, and on right, Solomon’s seal. They are all out behind the Tonka garage, as that was the place most like where they were, and a sort of safe place.
This is the South Herb garden, looking out my office window. This is how close they came.
The end of the South Herb garden, mighty close…..
The New Herb garden. I’m afraid the row closest to the digging might have gotten some casualties, even though I left the fence up.
At tag sales last Saturday, I got 2 shepherd’s hooks. One has a double hook. I dug out my windchimes Tuesday morning and was able to hang up 8 of them.
I’ve missed the sounds of them, since the end of June….

Wow they did come real close!
Hope your trillium makes it with a little love and attention.
