Today is my first Steem-Birthday. Happy Steem-Birthday to me! :-)

And... what has given me Steemit after a year of being involved in the community? It's a question I can ask myself right now and many things come to my mind.

I do not talk about "material" things like Steems or SBDs just in case someone was already thinking about that :-P , of course these two have always been a plus but I do not mean that. I speak of things like "Knowledge" for example. After a year of writing and having to investigate the topics on which I am going to write I have realized that I have acquired a lot of new knowledge. Things that I did not even think I could ever know or interest in knowing about. There is too all that technological knowledge that comes when you are in a bloggers community with many developers and programmers around. Also Bitcoin, Alt-Coins, politics, economy, kitchen Recipes, the latest conspiracy story of the moment and more, Steemit is very variedy. @juanmiguelsalas

Exactly one year ago on June29, 2016, I joined Steemit and not one second, I regret to be on this rollercoaster ride with you.

OH Dear, I count 365 exciting days of my "addiction" and zillion of hours of fun work.
It was not always easy but consistency, pay-forward attitude, combined with tons of patience will lead to your own personal success.

I am grateful to be a part of this community of incredibly interesting human beings.
( The circle jerks aside 😜) I even got to like our bots.

Hello Steemians, my name is Steven and i am a entrepreneur, philosopher, husband and a father .
And me and my woman are now for almost 19 years together, on this picture she was 20 and 22.She was born in Cambodia, and came to the Netherlands, when she was 6.
And i was born and raised in Rotterdam, and now we live in the city of Breda.We have two beautiful kids, who are a mixture of Suriname and Cambodian, the so call Blasian kids.

Nice to meet you!

Hello, my name is Erica but you can call me R'lyeh. A few of my friends started calling me that because of my obsession with Lovecraft and it kind of stuck.

I'm originally from Gatineau but I moved to the cold dry city of Winnipeg 3 years ago and haven't looked back since.
Winnipeg was very welcoming when I first moved here and encouraged to grow into the person I am now. It hasn't been easy and I have been through hardships which I will talk about in the future. They have taught me to stand up for what I believe in, so I wouldn't trade my experiences for anything.

I currently work full time as a body piercer in a small tattoo shop and I also own a small clothing line which I'm hoping to expand in the next year. If you love alternative clothing and jewelry go check out my website!

My pets are a huge part of my life, I currently live with my cat Jett, my bearded dragon Jub Jub, my 2 stick bugs and my 12 tarantulas. I'll be blogging a lot about them and other reptiles and insects. They keep me busy but the rewards are amazing. @rlyeh

"Mystical Journey", original art. How Universe Provides When You Open Your Hand And Let Go

I pulled up at my clients house with 5 paintings in the trunk of my car. I had to find an agreement with this beautiful First Nations woman, who 3 years ago purchased one of my key paintings: The Flow.

Here is the thing. One year after she bought “The Flow”, she asked me to take it back and try to resell it because she decided to move to Australia. Not a problem, I said. This painting is an attention catcher and will sell easily, even for more money than what she paid for it. Indeed it caught lots of attention and admiration, but nobody wanted to commit to it fully (my asking price wasn't low either), so it stayed with me until last week, for another year and a half.
My client messaged me out of the blue last week, announcing that she got back from Australia and would either have the painting back or the money. Here is the thing: in my books, once you return my art (and this is the only time it happened in my whole history), it is not meant to belong to you. @jankasparec

WOW-Meet Oscar. He is def and cannot speak. But makes amazing art

Lending a helping hand can make all the difference. Oscar is one of the locals here in Costa rica. He was born def and cannot speak. As one of local artists he sells these amazing a palm leaf decorations from parrots and iguanas to hats and backpacks. An amazing and probably almost forgotten skill. He has been sad lately. Its low season and no one is around in our small community. I saw him in tears one day and decided it was time to help out. I couldnt imagine not being able to speak with anyone. And no one here knows sign language. Lets all help Oscar. I will buy every single one of the art pieces he makes with your help and support. Lets make Oscars low season one to remember! The #1 reason why you should discover your passion and life purpose

Discovering your life passion is a really amazing trip that usually gives you so many different tools and gifts like knowing yourself, knowing your limitations, abilities and the most curious things you can think of and also is good to mention that the findings are totally different for everyone.

For some, finding their passion is so easy, they found about it when they were really young, "it came totally natural", "I don't know I had a lof of fun doing that in high school and then it became my career" but for others it takes 40-50-60 years, some even die not knowing.

But usually, when I talk about this topic many people with rushed lives and tight schedules ask me "why should anyone find their passion?" they also claim "I never heard of it", "never thought about it", "I think is too silly" or "I just gave up". @neri0x

Central Park MUSHROOM HUNT with Gary Lincoff - YES, you can EAT 'em too, if you DARE...!

While people generally consider New York City to be very expensive (and it is!), there are many charming little "city secrets" that will cost you next to nothing, but can potentially offer much greater satisfaction. For example, did you know that a dedicated group of New Yorkers forage for edible mushrooms around Central Park and other parks in the area as well?

This past Sunday, I joined in on one of these "Mushroom Hunts" hosted by Gary Lincoff and the New York Mycological Society (NYMS). Gary Lincoff is a "legend" of mushroom foraging, and in mushroom circles, he's renowned as one of the foremost mycologists in the world, with a history of mushroom hunting spanning nearly 50 years! @alexpmorris
