It may not be an easy job but someone's got to do it! War is not a game where each kill is a point - that would be awful, Russian roulette is not a game of life because no one wins! Thinking of life is a game is a psychological state. Where did this notion come from!?
If life is thought of as a game then there are winners and losers and I don't want to be a loser so I refuse to play! I don't want to be a winner either; gloating at failures and losers to pump up a fake ego, sucks! How many drugs did I consume and how many points to I get. Do earn gloating rights for how many women I score with!? Nope sorry pal, this game is over!
Thinking of life as a game can be some twisted psychology. It can seem inhuman and mechanical. Nature is indifferent, only a man made story can conceive of life as a game. We do live in a competitive culture where sports teams are glorified. The tensions of society are played out on the field. But I don't think oppressed people like to think of life as a game where there life's are trivialised into mere players of a game. Life is more than pitting one against an other. Games can be mean.
There is a difference between games and play. I'm not saying games are wrong or even thinking of life as a game as wrong. I want to raise the question - where did the concept of the game of life come from, and how do people make that part of their psychology? We are not born thinking of life as a game.
This subject came out in conversation lately so I wanted to touch on it here. Maybe will come back to it at a later date. For now does anyone out there have any comments or ideas on the subject?
