Approaching Death with Grace - Sadhguru

in life •  7 years ago

Yogi, mystic and visionary, Sadhguru is a spiritual master with a difference! An arresting blend of profundity and pragmatism, his life and work serves as a reminder that yoga is a contemporary science, vitally relevant to our times.
During a memorial event in California a seeker asks Sadhguru the best way to handle grief over the loss of a loved one. Sadhguru discusses how to approach the certainty of mortality, and explains that if one learns to conduct the present moment gracefully, then the moment of death with also happen gracefully.

Just the heading of the video brings smiles lol "Approaching Death with grace" nice video you've got there.

Can one really approach death with grace? I doubt that, the pain must be felt, the loss is simply visible, it is the unlimitable space beyond anyone's sullying.

Wow, such great post, please more of this, nice one, it lifted my soul

Good post

I respect this person as a fellow human being. He seems like a real good person who is a man of great integrity and compassion. But I just never felt like a person like this is anything special that I cannot find from a interesting person in a bar or at a ball game or at the store. That is just the way I view human beings in general.

very nice

It's vital to comprehend the distinction between our essential self (called the soul, spirit-soul, Self, alma, jiva, and other terms) which(who) is sat-cit-ananda, and what we misapprehend as our self, that knot of samsara of thought, emotional personality, physical body, social context and entaglement, etc., which is what die in this world When we say "I'm 'this' or 'that' or 'any other descriptor', we run the risk of identifying with that label, and becoming attached to it. That's the kind of error that causes one to attach to others on that basis, and suffer grief based on that delusion (and it's self-induced).
It's perfectly proper and reasonable to grieve at the loss of opportunity to associate with those one cares about (someone may not even die or otherwise suffer, simply, it's separation)- but mostly, people grieve because they're attached so strongly, "This was MY mother, MY father, MY kin...", becoming the center of their own grief, rather than the person lost.

Sadhguru is a wonderful yogi to listen to. His wisdom and happiness vibrates through the air as he speaks. I recently posted an article on meditation that you might find interesting. It would mean a lot if you checked it out!
