Daimler & Tesla - Electric School Bus & Heavy-Duty Electric Truck

Tesla are used to being the market leaders in their field, but they may have competition from Daimler AG / Mercedes who have released working prototypes of electric school busses and heavy duty Electric trucks.
        These are still only prototypes but are planned for production by 2019. Getting heavy diesel users like trucks and busses into electric will be a huge step forward for our environment and will also make city life a good deal quieter by eliminating the roar of the diesel engine which had become all too common!

The iconic yellow school busses have been in production since 1916.

        

        

Mercedes-Benz's First fully Electric Truck!

Daimler Trucks have totally revised their drive concept for this truck. The entire conventional drivetrain being replaced by a new electrically driven rear axle with electric motors directly adjacent to the wheel hubs. Power is supplied by a battery pack consisting of three lithium-ion battery modules. This all results in a range of up to 150 miles.

        

Tesla Electric Semi Truck

Tesla officially revealed its semi truck on October 26, at an event hosted by Elon Musk himself. The truck is rumored to have a range of between 200 and 300 miles on a single charge, which if true would make it the best in class.
