This morning, I was reading about the story of Samson. He is a man favored by God with strength no man ever lived had and no one will. It is all credited to the Spirit of the Lord that was upon Him. However, as all men experience, great or small, we all make choices in life. Choices guided by wisdom or choices of own accord. As I paused, I pondered how his life was wrecked by the wrong choices he made, more characters came into my mind: the characters of the ancient and modern individuals whose stories are vivid in mind. I remembered these characters whose stories were written for us to learn from. Additionally, individuals who have opened their lives so vulnerably for our benefit, so we won’t go on the cycle of history. Not to mention, I have my fair share of wrong choices conceived by pride, arrogance, and ignorance.

The verse above was in my remembrance and is replaying in my mind as I type this reflection of mine. I want to share simple insights for us to mull about.

First, a man who is full of arrogance (pride) and ignorance of his actions will never dare to utter such words of humility. If we are just honest enough to ourselves we were all in this embarrassing state. I don’t know to you but for me, I have had my share and at the end I was just led to look at myself in the mirror. Funny, I was like, “What was I doing… or How in the word I thought of it... or What have I just uttered…?

Second, I was reminded of the word REPENTANCE. I thought that this word means being sorry for what a person had done which is actually a correct definition of the word. Let me add to it drawing from my experiences. REPENTANCE means a decision to cease hurting myself and others because of my wrong choices that lead to hurtful words, devilish motives, or even disgusting actions. Moreover, REPENTANCE means reverence to God (yesterday’s blog).

Third, … (You can add your reflection yourself and share it too.)

As for me, I am compelled to close my eyes and earnestly pray, Dear God, create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast Spirit within me.

To end, in the story of Samson, the grace everyone needs was present before this man's last breath. Well, I hope we won't wait for our last breath before REPENTANCE be taken seriously.

Please share with us how the verse speaks to you. I would love to learn from you too.
