Why Not?

I've decided to occasionally blog here on STEEM again, because, why not?

My focus continues to be on HIVE blockchain, but in the meantime it makes sense to use my waning SP to earn more crypto of any kind. I already bought into HIVE with existing BTC before the pump of the last few days, so sitting pretty comfortable there. But even if I'm not trying to trade STEEM directly for HIVE, and even if my commitment is really to the new chain, there are still folks I know participating here too.

Update

To update folks on what I've been up to while away this past month, I've been mostly learning to enjoy lockdown.

I moved away from my friends about 2 years ago and had been missing many things about being among them, including attending the many events they were always creating. Now suddenly all their events are moving online and I'm not missing out anymore by living elsewhere!

I'm also enjoying cooking more elaborate meals.

Seeing more people out walking their dogs in the middle of the day (because they are newly working from home).

Attending dance classes online instead of in person (which the introvert in me actually likes more often).

Overall the lockdown has been pretty good for me, so long as I don't think about the larger economic and political dynamics at play or the tremendous suffering of those who have died and their families. For my immediate reality things have improved, but my big picture reality is threatened by a lot of troubling currents.

Service Project

Because I have the emotional bandwidth and economic means, I've been able to use that to help others who don't right now.

I've been participating in a grocery buying club of sorts, where people in need post shopping lists and the rest of us buy the groceries and have them delivered to them. I've not received this supposed stimulus check yet, but I've pretty much already spent it in this way.

I've also been co-creating a Mutual Aid peer counseling offering for my area. Which reminds me that I need to check in with everyone today to see about moving things on to the next step. My hope is that we'll be ready to go live within the next week and start delivering free "Compassionate Listening" to folks stressing in the community but not at "suicide hotline" level of crisis. It will also present them with the opportunity to listen for others, empowering them as giver and receiver, with no hierarchy between the two.

Well that's me lately.
