I have promised to post about my healthy lifestyle and today I want to write about my life without alcohol. I stopped drinking three years ago and I will say that it changed my life. Now I see life in another perspective (a better way), my happiness, economy and health is a lot better now. I have nothing against anyone drinking and I respect other people’s opinions.
Why I stopped:
I have always thought about giving up drinking and it has been a long consideration before I stopped. I was thinking about the consequences and my social life. The main reason for giving up alcohol is that I want a healthy lifestyle with sport and healthy food.
How it affects me:
PERSONAL: It have been difficult to stop because I lost some of my friend and got lonely sometimes. After a while I became more open minded and got more confidence in myself. I has always been a shy person and I was always sitting in the back of the class. Now I trust myself more and can contact other students.
EDUCATIONALLY: I am studying law in Denmark. Even though Greenlandic is a part of Denmark it is not my first language. It hasn’t been easy to speak fluent in Danish and do presentation when you are shy. Now I can see the positive difference between my grades before and after I changed my lifestyle.
HOW I SEE LIFE: I have become a more grateful about the things I have and more thankful for my life. My motto is: “Train your mind to see the good in every situation”
ECONOMY: You might know that you use plenty of money when you are going out with friends. You will buy some drinks, food and of course food the day after for hangovers. It is very expensive just to repeat the same old pattern. You can enjoy the parties without drinking.
There are so many things you can achieve in life and I hope that my post has inspired

If we drink then it should be in a limit.
If after consuming alcohol we forget about the limit then we should try to quit it...know quiting alcohol is very tough.

I am glad to see that such a beautiful young lady has been able to put her life in perspective and make good life decisions. Many, many young people don't make the change until they are much older, and sometimes it is just too late. I congratulate you on the success. Just remember though, that the "friends" you lost were never really friends. If they had been they would be standing beside you today. Never feel sorry for losing them, because, in reality, they lost themselves first.

We need more posts like this to encourage people to make this important changes for their lifes and life of their suroundings too. I stoped drinking alcohol too. Sports and a tasty healthy food and travel is my fuel now and i enjoy life more than i used to.

i decide change my life and i start workout for 6 days in week i go to the gym and after the gym i go to the swimming pool and this workout getting diet but some days i caprice a drink but speaking to myself ;) :)) and i continued healthy life style :) i hope good luck to your new life style

I used to drink a lot during college , especially on weekends. Then i just grew out of it really. Saw that it just messed my body up, and was not good for my health!

I am not a big drinker but I will have a drink now and then.
It is interesting how society views alcohol compared to many other abused substances.
At celebrations we drink, weddings, graduations, holidays. When times are hard we drink. Tough day at work? Have a drink.
Being able to quit drinking is not an easy task. Congratulations and all the best.

Hello sara, nice to meet another fitness enthusiast. I'm glad that giving up your alcohol changed your life to a great extent. Personally I was really bad in making healthy choices. That's where I decided to change my lifestyle and Workouts helped me a lot. Now I'm passionate about fitness.

Not easy to accomplish such a feat, indeed, but glad you did it. I try to reduce my consumption as much as possible, but in Spain it's like impossible to escape a "caña" of beer with the tapas ^^ At least, I don't drink on an empty stomach

Wow! Your post was really timely and inspiring. I have been thinking about cutting back on my drinking for awhile now. I have thought about quitting all together but that seems a bit daunting because everyone around me drinks and it a huge part of social gatherings that I am apart of. But I really love how determined you are in your quest to have a healthy lifestyle - a mission in my daily life as well. I will follow you to check out more of your post. You couldn't have said it better. There is really no need to have alcohol in parties, and still have a good time. Actually, wouldn't you like to remember the good times at a party with friends? Those who drink alcohol are also consciously or unconsciously damaging their liver in the long-term and have issues like cirrhosis. People are free to make their own choices and decisions but they also need to take responsibility of the consequences that come along with it.

Great decision! People get drunk when they drink because brain cells die in their brain...and it gives that effect! There is plenty of other way to relax and have fun. No need to destroy our bodies. Happy you made right choice :)
