We often feel sad or moody because of external factors that are beyond our control. How many times have you heard people saying 'this weather makes me feel depressed'? I've heard such complaints many times ... it's understandable, I live in Romania where we have at least 4 months of cold weather per year, unlike other sunny places.
Our natural predilection for good sunny weather justifies our moodiness during the cold season. Multiple studies show that there is indeed a strong connection between our mood and the weather.
But did you also knew that, in relationship to the weather factor and not only, specialists were also able to determine the most depressing day of the year?
As you might have expected it, this day falls in gloomy and freezy January. The good news, however, is that we are already past it as this dreadful date is:
the 20th of January
This day is also known as 'blue Monday' and it is always the third Monday of January. According to studies, this is the most depressing day of the year because:
- in many countries, the weather is horrible during this period
- the magic of the holidays has long passed
- the prospects of new holidays and vacation days are far
- most people have finally managed to readapt to the work routine and see no way out if it
- many people struggle with the debts they incurred during or due to the holiday season
If all or some of the above apply to your case, I totally understand you, but don't let them bring you down and remember that after winter, spring comes :)
