Higher States of Consciousness

Hi Fellow Steemians I am just sharing some thoughts I have had about consciousness, I would appreciate your feedback :)

Altering your consciousness is really only bringing to the front consciousness that already resides in you. The trick is knowing this (that endless consciousness reside in you) and being able to bring out these states of consciousness at will or thought, not with an exterior substance, but just by opening up gates that prevent these consciousness to coming to light.

The metaphorical gate seems to be emotions and certain chemical reactions that are a by-product of said emotions.
Emotions can also be broken down to your inner self and the non-existent filters (as you have created these filters yourself with your thoughts-without which they wouldn't exist) that create "instinctual" reactions to situations or simply any exterior environment.

Knowing exactly how you react to exterior environment (what specific situations triggers specific filters, thoughts, emotions) and consciously being aware of the certain triggers allows the mind to clearly and objectionably view a situation and change its perception.

Ultimately overcoming the traps that the mind has conceived itself

Hello!
I am not sure if I completely understand your perspective, but I think that your thoughts regarding the "instinctual" reactions being a result of a filter effect seem quite possible, and the way that we experience reality seems to be more of a survival technique. I strongly recommend looking into Donald Hoffman's thoughts around the subject of consciousness and reality if you haven't already- this podcast is a really great exposure to a theory on the way our consciousness exists and has evolved. https://youarenotsosmart.com/2016/12/02/yanss-090-questioning-the-nature-of-reality-with-cognitive-scientist-donald-hoffman/
