Field Trip Day!
I woke up excited at the thought of my beautiful daughter experiencing her first educational field trip with all of her friends. Probably even more excited that I had off work to experience it with her. My excitement however was questioned the second I got out of bed to get the day started with her and my two year old son.
I Cant Find Anything
I could not find her pants for the life of me. She does go to a school with uniforms, so of course only certain pants/ skirts will do, and those tend to hide on the days you need them most. You know what I mean moms. Finally I found them and it was smooth sailing.. or so I thought. Three pairs of sneakers and yet we can not find one pair.. looking everywhere for what seemed like forever, only to find them hidden in a pillowcase with brothers toys... (still no idea where the other two pairs are) She put them on, and off I went to make a nice lunch for her and her brother for the field trip.
I'm Not Crazy
I got the jar of peanut butter out, placed it on the counter and went to the fridge to grab juice boxes and the strawberry jelly my kids love. Heading back to where I had put the peanut butter, I realized there was an empty space where I knew I had left it. Of course at first I thought maybe I was crazy and never actually had gotten it out.. but then my mom brain started working.. No Peanut Butter, No Christian, No Noise. ( I know all the moms know where I'm going with this.) So I call for him and out walks my two year old with the jar of empty peanut butter and only the evidence on his entire body to solve the case.
I had cleaned all of it up and reached into the cupboard to find an unopened jar. I started making the sandwiches to which my son decides he wants to try to lick the jelly from his sisters sandwich. I quickly say, "No" in which case my two year old goes into high pitched screaming as he stomps off into his room. At this point this morning feels like its never going to end.
Things started to look up and we had gotten Paysen to school on time. Christian calmed down, and today happened to be national coffee day so you know this mama was smiling. I finally felt like it was going to be a great day. My mom, dad, sister, christian, and I piled into the van and went to meet Paysen at the Discovery Center.
So Much To Look At
This was the cutest little place in the middle of a park. You go into this building and the first thing you see are lizards, frogs, and even weird looking cockroaches in different tanks that are fascinating to look at.There are art pieces from recycled material that catch your eye and are hard not to look at. The kids learned about recycling, reusing, compost, and repairing which as her principal pointed out seems to be somewhat a lost art in the newer generations. Something Breaks we often throw it out instead of fixing it or using the pieces to create something useful or magnificent.
The kids went into this huge elevator (that could very well fit a parked car) up to the second floor where they were able to do so many incredible activities. There was a tiny house that showed them different ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle different things in the household. A Smart car they could gas up, wash, and pretend to drive. A thrift store where they could try on different clothing and play with different toys. So much more on this second floor. The cutest little place meant to challenge and grow the little minds.
Incredible Memories
All of this was fascinating and an all around great day from what started out to be not so great. My favorite part however was seeing the smiling faces of my children excited to be there. Excited to have their mom, grandfather, grandmother, and auntie there to experience all of this with them. The memories they took home today not only from us, but from the influential people that surround my daughter in her school life. She is growing up so fast. Not so much a baby anymore. To know she has some great people In her life to mold her into the incredible intelligent person I know she will grow up to be calms my heart. I know one day when she is older, she will look back at all these memories and the ones yet to come, and see how incredibly blessed she was to have all these great people in her life, and family who is there through it all.
P.S Sorry for the blurry pictures, but with all the excitement I was lucky enough to get these.
Awe! She's lovely 😊 cute🤗
