Me Inside The Stripping Room

in life •  7 years ago

You may think I'm inside the vivacious, kumukutitap all out thing coz the title seemed lusty, no it's not! I'm inside the negative stripping room where you gather the negatives, have it stripped or cut place it on a masking and flat arranged according to their respective signatures like Front and Back to get it done and turned it into a book! Behind me are the "stripped" or "cut"out negatives to be used for this particular project.

Me behind the stripping table and negatives

Behind me are the negatives that were dried up to be placed on masking and flat.

Stocks of flat arranged according to their names.

Bland shot!

To my right is the mock-up for Cup Cake and eventually rejected by my boss and she decided to redesign it.

Me and Benjo. He's our Negative Stripper and have been in the company for 20 years plus now. He's stripping a negative when I took this shot.

Negatives on the table ready to be stripped!

Benjo is checking the negatives for separate color.

In modern day printing, negative *Computer to Negative)  is replaced by CTP (Computer to Plate) system. You are not going into process of using chemicals and stripping it to finish a flat. CTP will directly "print" the image into the plate and have it run in no time!

Amazing! So that was the stripping all about. I thought it's some sort of a naughty thing. Haha!

hahahaha no enjineer. Back in the year when I was a novice, curious graphic artist and never heard of "stripper", or "stripping" term in a printing press, I asked myself what the heck is stripper and stripping... little that I know that it was a person who stripped the negatives, etc... and so on and so forth... lol thanks enjieneer!

Yep, the title definitely caught my attention!! lol Thanks for sharing the process with us.

Is this the same on printing via a film of photos in the 90's?

Unfortunately ladyjah, it's not. Thanks ladyjah!

is this for printing sir @iwrite?

Yes bobiecayao! It's an old and traditional way to print a book.
