4th of July - POLL - How many people know someone who is working this and every other holiday?

It is the Fourth of July in the United States tomorrow. The number of people that do not have the day off work is staggering. Almost none of the service sector industries will close and allow people to have the day off to celebrate.

Please state in reply if you know someone who cannot celebrate because of work and what industry!

Everything from medical, transportation, online and computing businesses, fast foods and restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, many an industry, amusement parks, restaurants, grocery stores, and the list is endless. The Fourth of July is no longer allowed to be celebrated.

The Fourth of July is a holiday, like Christmas and Easter and all the others that big billionaire business wants forgotten. The [policy of China is adopted where there are holidays it is just that no one gets to take them off.

A lot of this is caused by technology, something that was supposed to make people's lives easier but which has not. Most of it is caused by the attitude that there is no need to celebrate or enjoy life as long as the big spenders can fill their tills at everyone else's expense.

When I was trucking I purely HATED holidays.
It meant I got to sit in a lonely truckstop in the middle of nowhere most likely
All the chair sitters had taken off work.
Couldn't load, couldn't unload.
Lots of states wouldn't allow me to move ANYWAY.
I mostly carried Oversize.
permitted loads.
the permits said
NO MOVEMENT ON HOLIDAYS.
so I sat in a nasty truckstop.

Been there. Done that.

yes - retail
