Me and Moe.jpg
This is Moe, the Guinea Pig
~
For the last couple of months, I have been on 'duty' as "non-medical transport" for
A friend, who is on Dialysis.

This is my friend some time back after a stay in the hospital; he doesn't normally look this bad
Three times a week, I pick him up (his wife/caregiver
drops him off on her way to work in the morning.) and take him home.

The Fresenius Dialysis center he uses, about 4 miles from their house
~

This is two houses over from where I lived for 8 yrs with my Niece and her Husband.
He is a Quadriplegic, and I was part-time/on call caregiver for him.
I am a CNA... Certified Nursing Assistant though I shall be letting my
License go this year. I just physically can't do the work anymore.
~
So yesterday, my Niece asked me if I could sub for her this morning while she went
To court with her friend Valerie (an airhead if there ever was one).
I would have to be there by 9 am, monitor him, empty his colostomy bag, catheter
Bag as needed, bring him his shakes (injected into his stomach through a PEGG tube).
~
At 10:30 am, I needed to leave to make my way to the Dialysis center to pic up my
Friend by 11 am... my nephew in law would remain in bed (alone in the house)
while I was gone, then return, finish feeding him, then I would get him up, and
Into his Motorized Wheelchair; he is completely paralyzed from the mid-chest
Down.

From a couple of years ago at the Atlanta Aquarium
Once he was up and situated with access to his soup, water and computer, he
was good to go and I could leave.
~
All this time, I had a scheduled performance for a long standing client,
Del Mar Gardens of Smyrna at 3:30 pm.
That meant I had to be THERE by 2:30 to begin setting up.

So last night, my computer guy neighbor, between my nieces house where I used to live,
And where my Dialysis neighbor lives, called me with an emergency request:
Would I take care of their pet Guinea Pig while they were out of town, feeding him
morning and evening and bring in their mail.
~
By the time I did all that, I was exhausted, in great pain and now I'm a little nauseated
From the meds I took when I got home.

Wow! You have had one hectic day! No wonder you are tired and in pain. I would be too.

Hi @cecicastor, I actually did a bad thing; when I got home, I took my normal boatload of meds, which includes 2 Tramadol (pain) 1 Baclofen (muscle relaxer) and a Gabapentin, but I also took ½ an Oxycodone.
When composing this blog post, I was getting more and more nauseated, so I couldn't finish the post the way I wanted.
Thanks for the comment, 💓

You are too kind and helpful! That's a lot of running around... Do take care of yourself. You know what they say, you can to care for yourself first before you can take care of others... Have a good restful weekend, my friend! 🌞

Thank you @ackhoo, I did sleep pretty well last night, just not long enough. I wish we could figure out
And fix whatever is causing my hip and leg pain; that is my alarm clock. I wake up because I'm hurting
and when I roll to one side or the other, and it hurts there too, I know I've already run up the 'timer' in
those positions, so there is no point in continuing to lie down. So I get up, take my morning meds, have coffee, then after a couple of hours, I can lay back down for a few hours.
It is difficult for me to say NO when someone asks me to help. So many people have helped me in so
Many ways over the years when I was such a bad person. The one line in the sand I draw is money; I don't
Have much in the first place, and having been an addict and user, I know the games being played firsthand.
I'll help you get food if I can, but I won't give you money (for cigarettes, or booze or drugs)
Even if you could convince me you were going to use it for food or medication, I know that game too.
You have money in your pocket to buy those things, but you don't want to, so you borrow money for
Them and use YOUR money to buy booze, cigs or dope.
Sorry, this has been my one minute morning rant.
PSA over, thanks for listening ha ha...
