A raging wildfire in northern California has murdered two fire fighters and forced thousands of visitors to flee their own homes.The fires in Shasta county happen to be pumped up with strong winds to create"flame tornados" which are overburdened trees and overturning cars, fire officials say.

The fires have destroyed at least 500 structures and so are threatening 1000s of homes.

Firefighters are fighting the blaze, that is 5% comprised so far.The wildfire, that has been termed the Carr fire, which began on Monday and it has scorched over 48,000 acres (194 sq kilometers ) of land - an area larger than the town of San Francisco.

1 local, Liz Williams, seen herself along with her two kids deadlocked in traffic because people hurried to flee. She finally fled .

"I have never experienced something really frightening in my own life," she told AP news service.

"I did not know whether the flame was only planning to jump out to some bush and catch me and suck in.

"wild fires are a frequent phenomenon in California throughout the country's long, warm, humid summers.

However, pros say that this has become the worst beginning into the fire in a decade - partially due to this 2012-2017 drought which murdered considerable quantities of vegetation.

In December, say governor Jerry Brown said catastrophic wild fires fuelled by climate change was"the new normal", also that large flames"could happen annually or even every several years".
