I wrote a post yesterday about a book called, "The Power Of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It taught me a lot about being present and just live in the moment. Here are top secrets to become more present and live in the moment.
Secret #1 Meditation
Now, a lot of people wonder what meditation really is. They think it's just sitting under a tree, and sitting in a lotus pose.
It's actually quite simple. Meditation is the art of absorbing yourself in the present moment without judgement.
Now that we know what meditation is, how do we start meditation. What I did on my journey was that I would focus on my breathe.
Another way that I do is focus on the breathe. I take my right hand on my stomach, and I put my left hand on my chest. As I'm breathing, I make sure that I'm breathing from the base of my spine.
How do know if I'm breathing from the base of my spine? I make sure my stomach is going up, and my chest is extending. Breathing through the nose, and out through the mouth. That's a great way to be present. Now on the secret #2.
Secret #2 Conscious Eating
What I learned on my journey is the importance conscious eating. So many of us just gulp down our food and not completely chewing our food.
Did you know that digestion starts in the mouth? It does, and it's very important to completely chew are food, so that our stomach will have an easier time digesting the food.
How can we be more conscious of what we are eating? What I learned is to identify the food that is in my mouth.
I simply ask myself, how does my food taste, how does it feel in my mouth? That's how to be conscious with the food you are eating.
Just pay attention to the details of the food that goes in your mouth because you will start to enjoy your food more, and be more present.
Secret #3 Relax
Relax! So many of us are in a rush all the time. A lot of are in a rush to get nowhere fast. We are simply on the go, that's why we call the system "The Rat Race", because we are always running around like rats.
We stress ourselves out about the future, which hasn't happened yet. We regret about the things that we didn't do yesterday, which was in the past.
We have to just relax, take deep breaths, and realize that things will be ok, and the universe will take care of you. Relaxation is who we are, stress is who we think we should be.
