Doctor Stranger (A Korean Drama Feedback)

What's up Steemians?

The past week has been a bit busy, but right now I am feeling a bit perturbed. I have another gut feel that my client has left me hanging again. I don't want to be judgmental though, because the last time I was mistaken with my "gut feels". To keep me calm throughout the days, I need to do some diversion.

Korean drama (Kdrama) binge watching to the rescue!

The previous Korean television series that I watched was Hwarang. You may click on that link to know more about my struggles as a Kdrama fan, as well.

The latest that I had an episode marathon of, was entitled Doctor Stranger. Compared to the last series which depicts a plot that happened many centuries ago, this one has a flavor of some recent years ago.

Here are the protagonists of the Kdrama. (from left to right: Kang So-ra, Lee Jung-suk, Jin Se-yeon, Park Hae-jin)

Doctor Stranger Synopsis

The story started out when the father of Park Hoon, portrayed by Lee Jung-suk, was tricked to go to North Korea by his father's employer, just so he could not testify to a malpractice suit that the hospital was facing. After his father's supposed "job" as a doctor in North Korea, they were hindered from coming back to South Korea.

Park Hoon grew up in North Korea, where he was trained to be a doctor after attending a medical school and became a very skilled thoracic surgeon. There, he fell in love with Song Jae-hee (Jin Se-yeon's character), and the turn of events occur when Park Hoon escaped from North Korea after his father's demise.

Here's My Two Cents

This was not the first time that I watched a Kdrama involving doctors, surgeons and hospital scenes. Once again, I was impressed at how Koreans do this kind of series. I may be distracted while watching as I have to read the English subtitles, but still I was too engrossed in those moments that were happening especially when they went on performing surgeries. Sometimes, I had to play back a few particular operating room scenes, but that did not stop me from continuing and finishing the whole of Doctor Stranger series.

I love all the scenes that have to do with surgery and operating rooms.

I felt the struggles of how each of the characters were trying to live their lives, proving their worth and aiming to achieve the goals they set for themselves, and materializing their motives, as well as fighting their way out of the manipulation that they were under.

I get emotional sometimes at how the characters were-- those moments when you want to hit them on the head for acting as jerks, moments when you wanted to comfort them on their low times, and moments that you just want them to stop being so dumb, or being so powerful, or being so kind and selfless, or being so in love.

It seemed like I was caught in a whirlwind of emotions. That's how affected I was when I watched this Kdrama.

There were also happy comedic incidents in this tv series, and this was one of those scenes that I enjoyed a lot. (Check out this 'behind-the-scene'part, when some of the doctors, ended up in Dr. Oh Soo-hyun's apartment after getting drunk at a victory party.)

I must say that the actors were terrific at giving justice to the roles that they portray. Lee Jung-suk was very believable at telling the audience (through his acting), that Park Hoon was in fact a genius thoracic surgeon. I commend the rest of the cast and the staff for being excellent at what they were doing and giving us, spectators, another cool Kdrama.

If you are someone who loves Kdramas and have not yet watched this, I suggest you jump in and watch the show. I know you would love a happy ending. This one's got that.
