Signs of depression

Unfortunately, depression is extremely common these days, but it’s signs can be easily ignored.

Depression can manifest in many ways, depending from a person to another. It may seem superficial, but usually, those who don’t suffer from this illness believe that it’s just a caprice, a way of victimization.

In reality, depression is a real illness, and it should be treated. So if you think that you might suffer from it, read these signs and see if they fit with your situation.

The first signs of depression are the loss of interest, tiredness and the incapacity to concentrate. When you’re depressive, you suddenly can’t enjoy anything.

You lose your interest in your daily activities, like spending time with your friends and loved ones. You always say “I don’t care right now”. This illness can cause insomnia, because when you have depression you’re not capable of relaxing.

Also, you aren’t able to focus like you used to, and making a decision, even a simple one, seems impossible, because depression brings fear of failure.

Another sign is the feeling that your useless, or you’re feeling like you’re guilty for everything bad that happens.

Minor past episodes won’t let you alone, you feel guilty even If it’s for insignificant things. You feel like you’re useless, like no one cares about you or your feelings.

The next sign is the most obvious one. You cry super easily, even more time a day, and every problem make you feel like it’s the end of the world. You become the most pessimist person and you have exaggerated reactions to everything.

The worst part is that depression can affect you in a physical way. Depressed people can lose their appetite which can lead to extreme weight loss or, on the contrary, they can eat too much. Another sign is when you headaches won’t pass, even with medication.

So true !! Tough disease

Ok these are the signs. But what to do with them?

I believe that if you have any of these signs, you should search for help... it's good for you to talk about these things to a close one, but the best thing you can do is to see a therapist! Depression is a tough disease, I'm telling you this from my own experience, and you can't let it be, you have to accept the fact that you might need help...It's not a shame to see a doctor about this :D

Hey,
I think we have to start treating depression as useful for ourselves. The question one has to ask is, what is causing my depression !
Check out my take on this subject matter :D .

I can relate to everything you wrote in this post, people need to be more aware of the gravity of this disease. I'm used to people telling me that it's all in my head and that depression is not a real illness, but you can't know what it feels like until you go through this yourself, nobody should ever be put through such hard times!! If you have such a problem, it's not okay to hide it...you have to talk to someone about this because it's a serious problem! Great post, keep up the good work! :D

depression is the bad thing in life if get stuck with it there is no way of coming out of it

depression can be a monster. It hits me with too much sleeping. If I'm sleeping too much I know I'm depressed. If it goes too long the other effects filter in and things fall apart. I think more people than we assume suffer with various degrees of depression. It's really an epidemic.

Depression is something that should be treated in its early stages. This is because it can cause much more damage if allowed to eat deep into its victim

This is wonderful post. Somebody somewhere needs to read this and you @jwolf just shared it

not yet feeling that i am depressed with those signs looks i am safe

Good night, I have had people close to me suffering from this disease, with accurate diagnosis, but what about those who live with a depressant? because the levels of patience and tolerance towards a depressed person reach their minimum expression and I consider that this aggravates the patient's problem. it is then advisable to consult with the patient so that from the specialist's hands we can obtain the necessary tools to handle the situation.
Depression is a disease and as such should be treated in time.
Early diagnosis makes it possible to attack the disease.

P.S. I have trouble voting @jwolf

Yup, depression is getting more and more common these days. Hopefully everyone can shower more love to people around you and be sensitive enough to detect signs and symptoms of depression before its too late!

Very true depression can be terrible and i think it should be treated more seriously in this day and age as it is a real illness.

Ive suffered from depression in the past - and although there are many symptoms it manifests itself differently for everyone. For me it was low mood and a sense of worthlessness.

Talking about depression and starting the discussion really helps people to understand it more - its nothing to be ashamed of!

the most depressing thing about depression is that nobody can help you but yourself. Be strong.
