I used to be dreamer, how about you?

Sorry this post came up twice, I had some troubles with a specific "broadcast error"...

Dreams indeed lifts us up

I have consistently been a dreamer. As a kid I dreamt of many things, like becoming a lion or live on my own in the forest or becoming a scientist. I spent very much of my time dreaming.
As a young adult I dreamt about more doable things like, getting married, having kids and a job in an office.
I got all these things and I also divorced my earlier husband... I have not been too comfortable working 9-5 in an office, and I have done that for more than 15 years. One day four years ago I said to myself it had to be enough. I couldn't keep on working in a place I did not like, dreaming of getting another life some day.
In that way, I missed the life that passed me during the dream sessions. Life is happening all the time, here and now. Being occupied with dreams all the time made me miss a lot of it.

The day I realized all this was like waking up. But it was not a very happy moment. It felt like I had wasted a lot of precious time. The best period in my life was when I got kids and spent time with them, the rest of the time I tried to escape into the dreamland.

Action makes things happen

I never dreamed about getting rich or living a luxurious life. My dreams were more about experiences and feelings, to feel happy and to be able to do things that I love to do.

2014 I had a new job after many years in the same place. I did not get happier in the new place. Same tasks, new office. A year later I decided to go back to school and get a bachelor degree in interaction design. And I love to be a student! And I love the course and the books! I continued working the first year of my studies, then I got another job, half time employment. Still it was to much work for me to be able to focus on my studies.
Not sure why I did this but I guess I was afraid I would never find a job again.
Now in my third year I don't work at all. I study -and I have a life:-) And honestly I enjoy it so much, every moment. Not much dreaming now. Of course I have some future plans but not to escape reality anymore, and that feels awesome!

So tell me: are you a dreamer or a person that prefer "living here and now"?
I have been both and believe me. I enjoy living here and now, not trying to dream my life away! The sky is the limit, of course, but not as a way to escape:-) My mind is now grounded and I stay steady on the earth with my feet, with no clouds around my head!
