Writing this post came as a result of a terrible accident I saw yesterday on my way back home from work.
The chain effects of our actions are sometimes on imaginable.
This particular accident happened as a result of a drunk driver colliding into another vehicle which in turn collided into another leading to series of injuries and a number of deaths.
As I reflected on this event, I could not but help imagine how somebody's father was dead because of someone who got drunk, this particular child may have to drop out of school because his/her sole benefactor was dead. This person might turn to illegality in order to survive
A little child's mother was going to be spending the night in the hospital just because somebody else got drunk.
A driver whose only source of income was his car just lost his means of survival because somebody decided to be irresponsible.
A lot of things scenarios came flooding in my mind.
This got me realize that our actions and inaction go a long way in shaping our worlds.
When I was a little boy, somebody said some things to me that I couldn't get over for a long time. These words affected my confidence, it made me feel worthless and made me feel like I was never good enough. It took a lot of work to get over and to be sincere I still struggle with it till now.
I discovered that because of this shy nature, there were a lot of things I could have done that would have inspired somebody somewhere to become a better person. Sadly I didn't.
I have come to realize that this is how life works, we all are interconnected. Somebody somewhere is was treated badly, now he goes around with bitterness in his heart and vents his anger on the closest person available.
In the same way, a singular action of kindness has led to someone showing love to everyone one he comes across.
In every way, we contribute to what this world is. Let's do our best to see that the world is a better place by doing the right things, saying the right things and living right.
Be the good you want to see in this world.
