In Geneva you may be foiled

Physics is nice. It makes astounding things possible, for example GPS or the fact that your bread always lands on the buttered side.

Physics may also allow you to glide above the water in the not so far future, at least in Geneva.

The company “Seabubbles” has tested a new vehicle that they want to establish as a water taxi.
It uses “foiling”, where only a few parts like wings keep it above the water once a certain speed is reached, thus reducing the resistance by half.

The Seabubbles (boat and company name) is driven by electric motors. The batteries for them are charged by the dock using solar energy.

Using advanced steering technologies the boat more or less drives as stable as a car in the water. Maybe that even helps against sea sickness?

If nothing hinders the Seabubbles, they may be the future of the Geneva lake. Of course, if it happens like in Paris, where the company tried first… There the “old” ferryman were successful in getting rid of the competition.
