Conversations With Truth

”...space is so humbling.” -Joe Rogan

After having some philosophical questions the past couple of days, this clip of an interview Joe Rogan had with Jeremy Stephens was felicitous.

It is not often that I find a civil conversation between a Christian, Jeremy Stephens, and an intelligent individual, like Joe Rogan, that asks such good questions.

I won’t go into much more detail about the video as it stands on its own, but there is something that I’ve been mulling since I watched it.

One of the main ideas that permeated my thoughts after listening to this conversation is the speed with which information is flowing now.

For centuries the main source of information was what we could glean from the printed page - the internet has changed that.

However, there is a caveat. I don’t believe we have truly grasped the power of the internet yet. Until blockchain has a wider adoption in our media, and ideas are not so easily censored, we won’t have as many civil conversations like Joe and Jeremy had.

Yes, people are still inherently bad - if you think otherwise ask any parent of a 2 year old. But, there is something amazing that happens when people interact with truth in an unfiltered way.

What do I mean you ask? Well, Joe and Jeremy discuss that albeit with some colorful language and conclusions that might tickle your own beliefs.

I'm not so optimistic about 'uncensored' dialogue on social media as a means to the truth - I've seen exactly the opposite - Sorry, lydon, but in the spirit of your article, I disagree :)

And I am glad you do. There is a reason I call you a mentor and that is because you are always looking out for my blind spots. I’ll take a look at this one. :)

That's very humbling for you to consider me in that way, my friend - Deb does that for me as I'm sure Abi does for you - but there's wisdom in a multitude of counsellors :)

Wow!

At least this guy (Rogan) has some sense of awe at the creation. I think his discernment of the dichotomy between the reality of the creation and the trappings of modern religion is pretty reasonable.

I suspect he is correct when he blames our lack of viewing the heavens for a good part of the malaise of modern man. Indeed, the heavens declare the glory of God, and if ya' can't see 'em, you miss that as well... :(

😄😇😄

@creatr

I suspect he is correct when he blames our lack of viewing the heavens for a good part of the malaise of modern man.

I was intrigued by that thought process as well. Similar to the principle in evangelism where we talk about sin and our need before we share our Savior, it makes sense to understand our smallness in the universe before acknowledging the Creator of it all.

It is true now the speed of the exchange of information has allowed fluent and instantaneous communication and also allows us to interact with people who think. This also allows great truths to be disseminated at a higher speed and to more people, but misguided and crooked concepts are also disseminated, which sometimes makes it difficult to censor them, especially if they are not received by children and young people. Thank you for sharing this interview and knowing your opinions. Best regards

You’re welcome. Thank you for your kind words.

Yes information and knowledge seems to be growing...just imagine what humans could achieve if we didnt waste so much time, effort and funds on fighting each other.

Oh the things we could do.

I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it's for or against.

Oh, I like that.

Always good to stand up for the truth...thanks for your great post

You’re welcome, my friend.

That's exactly what I keep telling my friend. If you think the centralized systems are amazing, then imagine a decentralized system. One in which there is form of control from corporations or government. One in which the principles of freedom and equality and upheld. As usual, thanks for this.

And thank you for another thoughtful comment. I am following your blog now.

Oh. Thanks a lot
