What’s the rush?
As someone who strive to be a productive master, goal and schedule oriented, life is always on the rush. It feels like there’s never enough time for the things on my list. I often sacrifice time for sleeping just for the sake of getting things done faster. However, I never learn from my mistake that sleep deprivation is harmful for our health. In fact, several days ago I addressed this problem yet I still never learn.
My sleep deprivation caused me to lose focus and becoming more clumsy. As result, about a week ago, I tripped over my laptop cable and my forehead hit the wall. Fortunately, I didn’t faint because if so, that would be dangerous. The following morning, I went to the doctor to get myself checked because I started feeling dizzy. However, my life was still going at 100% power mode which is overworking and stressing over things. The next day, everything was just worse. Despite taking medication, my headache wouldn’t leave me alone. I felt like I was dying and my head could explode anytime.
So I decided to lessen my screen time, eat slowly, avoiding caffeine at my best, avoid excessive human interaction and no scrolling anything.I also meditate a lot more than I used to.Then, I cook again because I am taking the time enjoy my meal without rushing.
I am sure, I have written this all over again. I just don’t know why I never learn. Perhaps, I am too stupid to learn from my mistakes. However, it seems to me that there’s unavoidable pressure that I can’t seem to lift up from my shoulders. People around me placing high expectations while I can’t really chew 100 things at a time, that’s not my super power. My super power comes only when I have less thing on my plate so I can focus better and devote my time to it.
Perhaps I was falling in to the trap of “hustler” guru who seems to hate sleeping because they work 16 hours a day. But I realized, it’s not for me. It doesn’t work. Now, I am more convinced than ever that things take time.
Lessons learned, right? :)
