"Caricature and similarity" - in Desirable Pearls - 25

At the party, the cartoonist was asked to draw caricatures of all participants of the party.

With bold, quick strokes of a pencil, the cartoonist sketched images of present people. Then he circulated the drawings so that everyone could look at them. There was a lot of laughter and jokes at the same time. However, something unexpected happened. Everyone was able to recognize everyone else, but only a few - themselves.

When it comes to self-discovery, we all seem strangely blind. We do not see ourselves as clearly as others perceive us. We simply do not see our main features - weak and strong points - as they really are.

This is so true and can be quite shocking! I sometimes don’t recognise myself in the mirror!!

So true :)

Beautiful! You're always my inspiration :)))
Have a fabulous day, my dear Margaret!

Oh, thank you for your very kind words my friend ;) Have a great day too

That is very true! I wonder what others see in me since I am not even sure what I see in myself!

The people see us totally different then we see ourselves ;)

I will never forget one of my psychotherapy workshops years ago, when I was still in school. Our instructor told us to work in pairs. We were to give the other person a detailed description of our personality and what we thought of ourselves - positive things only, no self-criticism. Then the partner was to refer our description to the entire group. The results were amazing. Almost everyone added to the description something from their own perspective. Let's say, I never said I was a good cook, but my partner said that anyway, although he never got to try my cooking before.
Looks like people see us in a much better light than we see ourselves. And if we speak positively about others and ourselves, we'll be given way more credit for it, than expected.

Best regards, MWise! :)

Sometimes we are so busy that we do not see our values. People looking from the side, they see more. It is worth listening to other whispers :) Hugs and kisses my dear Katie :)
