Dropping it like it's hot! | Links, links and links everywhere!

I have always been talking about engagement in the Steemit community by replying back to those people that comment on your posts and also by going out there and commenting on our people's post, not just whales and dolphins and hoping for an upvote on your comment.

So good for you if you are already doing that but how are you in terms of engaging people in your Facebook messenger or Discord groups? How effective is the Post Promotions channel of various groups?

I have about 10 different Steem Discord groups and 3 Facebook Messenger groups. I am active in about 4 of those Discord groups and 2 Facebook Messenger groups. The rest I am ashamed to admit that I hardly have any time to visit.

A lot of people will get disappointed by this and I might even receive some backlash but I believe in honesty. I hardly check the Post Promotions Channel. There I have said it! Between the duties of mentoring, answering questions about Steemit, scouting for the promo-mentors, personal feedback sessions and curating posts. I really down have the bandwidth to be able to go through all the links.

Then you get some members that keep on reposting their links every hour and it's just hard to scroll up. No matter how many times you remind them to not do that we'll some people never learn and it's frustrating.

I maximize my time by using certain tags like psychology, fiction, motivation and steemitfamilyph (of course it's Ohana!) as some of the tags were I like to read and find new people. You choose topics that you are interested in.

I have unfollowed a lot of people so my feed is looking a lot leaner and I have GINA BOT alerting me when my favorite authors posts and of course any mentions so I can use my omnipresence powers and engage like a hero!

So is the post promotions channel useless then? Depends on you. Are you engaged with the community?

What do I do to get an upvote here?

My favorite word in Steemit, ENGAGE. You need to engage with people. You need to talk to them, socialize for Pete's sake! Steemit is a social platform! You can't just post your entry and then you are gone. Get people to care enough to look at your work.

It is hard and it will take time but once they are engaged enough it will be worth it. You'll have a follower who would most likely upvote and comment on your post because they enjoy your company and genuinely care about what you write.

A lot of people have talked lately about deep meaningful connections. Steemit is all about that. So go ahead and make connections with those people. Talk for a few minutes and you might gain a follower.

Exceptions

There are certain exceptions of course. If I am engaged enough in a community I make it a point to go through the post promotions channel. Especially in Discord because I can see the Title, the image used and the first two lines of the post. So you have to make those three things pop out and draw the attention of a reader.

Another exception is what SteemEngine is doing. For you to be able to post a link in their post promotions channel you need to upvote and comment on one post there. They also have people that checks if it was done properly so it is but fair. Another thing I like is when you do these simple things their main account and those that trail it gives you an upvote so it's a win-win!
