Motivational Mondays - Don't Wait for Later

in life •  7 years ago

“Maybe later” is one of the main causes, reasons and rationalisations for procrastination or just pure stagnation.

“I want to do it, but I’ll do it later” It’s a particular dangerous cause of inertia. While other types of procrastination can be clear, meaning we know we are procrastinating, the “I’ll do it later” mantra hides it.

By saying we will do something later since (you can say) it shows will to pursue your goals, on top of giving a false sense of action it also blames your inaction on external factors “The time is not right” “I just need this to happen”

Extremely dangerous and sneaky… and it can and will (if not confronted) attached itself to your persona, like that coffee stain that seems impossible to remove.

Since all human beings tend to procrastinate and cave into resistance, If you leave things for later chances are, you are not going to do them ever.

One thing is sure:
If you’re waiting for the right moment… it won’t appear… There will always be an external factor that you can use to rationalise your inertia. There is no such thing as a “prefect moment”.

Good news is, you don’t need one. Things don’t need to be perfect for you to take a leap. You just have to make a decision and start moving forward. With time you will get experience and more opportunities will come.

A comum trait shared with many successful people is that they did not said “maybe later” while waiting for the perfect moment. They took a shot with what they had and made the best of it.

While some might have had the “I’ll do it later” mentality earlier in their lives, they will all agree that once you just take the first steps, things seem to work out in your favor and opportunities just appear out of no where.

Basically by not waiting for the perfect moment they created their “perfect moment.” While luck is important you also make your own luck.

Another thing is for sure:
If you don’t start, you won’t start. If you don’t make it, it won’t happen. If you don’t take a chance you will stay where you are. And there is no such thing as a perfect moment.

Temporary tends to turn into permanent.

“One today is worth two tomorrows.” - Benjamin Franklin

Why wait?

Thank you very Much!!

That is one of the best advice ever. Many people spend their lives telling about the plans they want to do, but it is usually the case that these plans remain there, in plans, always waiting for a perfect moment to execute them that never arrive, because the perfect moment must be created by ourselves.

Exactly!!! We do make our "perfect moments" .

Glad to see you agree with this. It's a shame so many people wait and wait... for nothing really...

Thanks for your comment man!!

This is wonderful, superb. Procastination is a terrible habit. I'm also into motivational posts too. Lovely post @maxjoy

Thank you very much!! Appreciate it!!

So true.
Don't leave for later what you can do now :).
Have a good day!

Exactly!!! That's a personal mantra!!

Have a great day.

let's crash this week :)

Let's do it!!!

'There is no such thing as a perfect moment'. I totally agree. If we will wait for that moment when all things get aligned and into our favor, then we can never start with what we intend to do. It is good to be reminded about this. Thank you and keep steeming!

I totally agree and it is never too much to remind ourselves about it.

Thank you so much for the comment and re-steem.

I always do this. I keep on saying I will do things later today, then the day ends and I will tell myself that I will do it tomorrow.

But the tomorrow never comes.

Hope I am going to change now.

I understand... been there, done that... been . there for very long even. And it's not even tomorrow never comes... it's like all of the sudden the month is gone and I've done nothing.

This is why it is so important no to wait. Hope I could be a bit helpful.

Thank you for your comment and let's crush this week!!

yepp, let's make it more productive.

Everything is just a matter of habit, what you have for the day is today, the "after I do" is just an excuse for those who do not want to do.

I totally agree!!! A very dangerous excuse.

Have a great week!!

Good motivation. Thanks for this post.
