I smiled at her as she smiled at me. Wasn't this just perfect? Two people in love just wanting to make each other happy. It was like we were surrounded by an aura of pure joy. I could almost see love birds fluttering around the room. I stretched my hands out wide. She did too and moved in for a hug.
I stepped back and started banging my hands about in mid air.

I'm torn. On one hand I love picturing you banging away all of life's frustrations on a set of drums, on the other...yeah I kinda get the whole 'not particularly conducive to an infant' thing.
Speaking instruments and infants, I'm sure you've heard the saying 'Music soothes the savage beast', well it is quite true in the case of my adorable niece Nora when it comes to my brother's guitar playing and soulful singing, it transforms her from cranky to calm in an instant--but his second instrument, the harmonica? She loathes it. He starts playing and she starts screaming. Apparently he can only practice on it if he shuts himself in the back guest room while she's pre-occupied in the living room.
Taking a wild guess here, that if a harmonica doesn't fill a baby with joy then drums likely wouldn't either lol...oh! I know! Ever since SOS started learning the piano I've had this burning desire for the one instrument I've always wanted to learn- the violin/fiddle. You should get one and we can learn to fiddle together!

I would love to say that my guitar soothes the little man. It certainly did soothe my little lady. In fact it was magical to watch her go from insaniac to cute cherub when I played. The little boom however had heard me okay once I think because having two kids is the most time consuming cluster fuck of a thing ever. He is a bit ill so we are a little fraught lol
