The monster killer in Africa; Road accidents

in life •  7 years ago

On average, one person is killed every 30 seconds as a result of a traffic related accident around the globe. Africa is contributing the biggest percentage to this alarming statistics with the highest risk of dying from a road accident. Europe has the least death toll from road accidents and the top most doesn't need to think hard to guess right.. Africa is on top yet it has more than five times less vehicles than Europe.

The lives of pedestrians are claimed most during these accidents. This is a result of poor conditions of roads which are characterised by their narrow size which ends up not giving the people walking on the sides much room to walk freely. This has got Africa branded with the world's deadliest roads. A cause for worry when foreigners want to tour the continent which is so gifted with nature. Governments have not given much response to this call yet tourist attraction is one of the biggest booster of the economy on the continent.

Many people are purchasing more cars and yet the roads are not accomodating this much percentage of the vehicles. The governments has got to embark on a run of accident reduction. A lot of progress has been reached when it comes to diseases like malaria killing people. Which we've seen governments coming together to support each other to save the lives of the public from dying from diseases which are avoidable. The fight can now be turned to road accidents through very strict measures on the roads. And I recommend a serious emphasis on the five risk factors; speeding, drunk driving, helmets, seat belts, and child restraints. This will protect road users thus having fewer deaths which boosts higher producivity on the continent.

This is an issue that I was unaware of. Thanks for the new from your side of the world.

It's a vicious killer that we will fight if we ensure maximum action against. Thanks for passing by.

this can only be fixed if we make police and governments do their jobs. that or we begin a grassroots effort to improve road quality and traffic conditions

collision incidents are often happening everywhere let alone a developing country, this may be caused by human negligence or other factors, drivers who are reckless in the street, may also be due to lack of respect for other road users.

This is terrible. Car accidents are very prevalent, for sure, and can be very dangerous... Just a suggestion--typically in a report like this, you might provide links/ references to the sources from which you acquired your data/ claims--such as Africa being "the biggest" car accident nation, and Europe "the least." Where did you find this information?
