Hot Yoga

in life •  7 years ago

Today was a rest/relaxation day so I decided to take advantage of my new gyms Heated Vinyasa Yoga class. It was right after work and the gym is super close to the train station. A couple years ago I was going to Core Power (a yoga studio in the US). They're great but anything that's great tends to cost. They were pretty expensive for just a yoga studio but it was a boutique fitness center so I get that. The gym I signed up for is cheaper and more diverse to what I want to do. Yoga isn't my only intention for the gym but it's a BONUS!!!!

So, sitting on the train, waiting for it to leave, I'm normally tensed and agitated. But now, after Yoga, a few minutes in the steam room with a cold eucalyptus towel and a shower, I feel so relaxed. Not sleepy, but content and relaxed.

Benefits of hot yoga include:

  • Increased blood flow- this is great because you're getting more blood to the muscles which help stretch them out to make you more flexible. The article below mentions thinking about heating a rubber band.
  • Vinyasa is all about the flow. When you flow in and out if each pose a couple times, you don't even realize you're getting deeper into that pose. You're stretching more than you realize.
  • Mental clarity- this comes with any yoga practice. When you focus on breathing your brain senses that and pushes everything else you're thinking about out. I love hot yoga because it forces you to focus on breathing otherwise you could pass out. By the end if class you feel like you could do anything.

Check outwhere I got some of the info.
