I'm born into a business. My grandfather set it up in 1963, that's about 60 years ago.

We are a manufacturer of heavy industrial weaving machines. These can be used to weave carpets or technical textile.

Most of our customers are in India nowadays because wages are cheaper. I'm from Belgium and we used to be a specialist in weaving carpets but everybody moved their factories to third world countries.

Because of this business i had the opportunity to see almost the whole world and i'm only 22 years old. Sometimes in the holidays i went with my father to other countries to install the machines they bought.

But i don't know if i want to take over the business. My passion is with finance, my life goal is to start my own hedge fund one day. Because i want to prove to myself that i can beat the market.

While it’s good to have aspirations and you should always follow it and see it through as far as you can you should never say no to opportunity you may find it leads you to things you never thought possible! Always good to learn new skills and opening your mind, there are plenty of business learnings that are universal and can be applied to anything but you only learn them by being in there during the day to day grind
