Woodwork on the window frames

in life •  7 years ago

One of the things that come with owning a home.

Fun to do with others around to join in, because many hands make light work.

It is the extra on the fully booked agenda

The summer cold moved to the third week, hard to beat this one. At home we are all frustrated by it at the moment. Luckily we have great weather at the moment. A bit windy to go on a high ladder for me, but the window frames upstairs need to be sanded too. It is not my favorite job as I have to remind me to stay on the ladder, and keep looking up. But when the wood rot has been taking care of and the sanding is done, the fun part starts: painting. Really, the paint finish is the best part to me.

What is great about these kind of things is when friends and family jump in to help. We are blessed with friends and family that does that. Because I have my health challenges it really does make me feel happy that they are around at times like these. My preference for living my life is being as substantive as possible and also to be able to help others and also accept help from others. That may sound logical and easy, but I think that men will understand that this is not as obvious as women would handle it. First accepting that my health challenges put limits on me living as substantive as possible, that does take some time. Yes, it still does...

Just like going to see a doctor, I just do dislike it too much. My body has to heal itself. And no doctor is going to feel my prostate ever again. Sometimes I do envy women, they are much more social, easier to ask for help and give help, group effort, more cooperative. While men, me included are more individualistic, solve it alone or in a competative way. Guess that is why I love women. And it even gives me a good vibe when a woman tells me I am quite manly. Yes, I can be a bit cocky sometimes. That is also what makes it difficult to accept my health challenges sometimes. That probably was caused by the job a had back then. Always had the idea I could move mountains, I could go on and on. But that back fired somehow.

Anyway, that is part of my life. And it is a learning proces. Where I also became aware of who really matter, those who sticked with me even in my darkest hour. That is something I have to remind myself of, still thriving to be as substantive as possible. To be aware that all that is achieved, even what is claimed to be done 'alone', is always done together. It is a mythe that we do things alone, because in one form or another we are always co-dependend on the workand or cooperation of others. So, therefore I am very thankfull for all the loving, caring and helping people in my life. That do this unconditional. And as a man who always wanted to do things substantive it is something I want to become even more aware of. As I am able to help, care and love unconditional too. It is accepting and giving, while making memories together.

Have a great one!

You have reminded me that I too need to get up on that ladder and deal with my frames. Ah, the joys! But, true, I don't mind the painting bit either

Oh the joy, the laughter, hahaha. It's a days job and some one has to do it. Them frames Mate, sanding, repairing, but then the joy of painting is almost a pleasure!
