Steemisode 02: Dreams versus Ambitions

Dreams are something which people seldom have nowadays, what most people have now are ambitions, you may not know the difference so let me explain, a dream is not something you see while you sleep, it is something that keeps you from sleeping.

It goes beyond driving the latest car, or using the latest I-phone, those are ambitions, the I-phone you are fighting tooth and nail for was a product of Steve Jobs dream, he believed that it was possible to make a touch screen phone when there were a lot of doubts.

We as young people should learn to dream, we should not be satisfied with merely getting a job, and we should strive to pursue our dreams, our careers. I am not saying we should quit our jobs, but while we are at it we should know that it is not our destination but a way to sustain ourselves till we get there.

We should not be scared to create our own stories, because the world is waiting for it.

I understand that you need a job to pay bills, make ends meet and survive, but that’s just what it is, surviving not living. See I understand the need to have a job temporarily while you pursue a career eventually.

There is a big difference between a job and a career, in a career no matter the amount of time you put into it, you do it because it is satisfactory and it gives you joy, but in a job you do it for a salary, you get stuck in the “rat race”, and in the “rat race” and even if you win the race, you are still a rat.

What did the people who created Instagram see that the scientist at Kodak did not? Since the advent of instagram, Kodak’s camera sales have declined. The scientist at Kodak helped develop the digital Camera that eventually put them out of business. Something that you created ends up being your biggest opponent.

Facebook acquired Instagram for almost a billion dollars, a company that had only 13 employees, while Kodak has over a 140,000 employees. We as young people should be able to see the future, we should not get stuck in old ways, reluctant to change, function the same when there is nothing to gain.

Steemit is a dream because it is not only changing the lives of the creators, but that of every single person on the platform.

I will never forget the story @infovore told of how Steemit changed his life.

The only true path to change is to perceive that which others deemed impossible, we should embrace what others tend to fear. Success will not fall in your lap, if you want to plant a tree pray for rain but don’t neglect to water your seeds, chase your dreams.

And if you are not sure whether you are building someone’s else dreams, check this, when you start pursuing your dreams, you will suddenly have all the energy and imagination you will ever need, and don’t be afraid to innovate, it is not about how much money you make , but how much change you make, because a business that makes only money is a poor business.

So you decide what your life is worth, your passion or your paycheck, because your playing small does not serve the world, our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our biggest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure, when we do something we love we will never see it as work. Strive to follow your dream and you will never have to work a day in your life.
