WHAT ARE YOUR LIMITATIONS?

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Some people have wonderful ideas of things they want to do, but they feel they are being limited by one or two things. Some feel they are disadvantaged by nature, why some create their own limitations. Whichever way, I want to make you know that you can soar higher than your supposed limitations.

The story of Helen Keller is one of my greatest motivating factors. Anytime I feel like giving-up, I remember this great woman that had almost everything working against her, yet she ended up being a world figure. From 19 months old, Helen Keller was blind, deaf and could not speak clearly all through her life time. However, she overcame adversities to become a lecturer, author, crusader and a human right activist.

What about her teacher Anne Sullivan? This woman was able to achieve the impossible through patience, intelligence and endurance. Yeah, many people would have argued that it wasn't possible to teach someone like Helen Keller, but Anne was able to overcome that.

Don't allow anything limit you from achieving your dreams. I see a lot of people complain that poverty is the greatest set back they're having. For every determined person, poverty or any other thing cannot stop them. It's only a matter of determination, persistence, diligence and passion. When I invite some people to join steemit and they complain that they don't have enough money to buy data or they don't have a smart phone, I tell them that they are not determined to join.

When I joined steemit it wasn't easy for me. I had to stay awake all night to do night browsing which was cheaper cos I couldn't afford buying data that would last longer. I also borrowed the modem I used for my internet connection. Today, I have enough money to buy enough data for my internet connection, a good smart phone and a modem. I can even help others with their hospital bills. I could afford all that from my earnings here. If I had succumbed to challenges, I wouldn't have been able to achieve all that.

I've realized that good things don't always come easily. There are always giants in everyone's promise land. You can't be a champion if there was no contest. You have to realize that life is full of contests. You are daily contesting with obstacles and challenges in different forms. Your ability to overcome them is what makes you a champion. Being a champion in your life's pursuits is what makes life meaningful and worth living.

Instead of sitting back and complaining about your limitations, why not overcome them by going the extra mile? Make sacrifices. Complaining will take you nowhere. Be determined. Be focused. Be persistent. Be zealous. Lukewarmness will not allow you achieve anything worthwhile.

There is no limitation for anyone who is passionate and determined to succeed in achieving a goal. The only limitation you are facing is the one you permitted.

In what way have you been able to overcome your limitations? Please share in comments below.

Hi,
I like your engaging post.
I joined steemit when my health was in decline just over a year ago. I thought I was just experiencing burn out and injuries from an ultramarathon. I new I had some health issues before the event, but my passion and stubbornness was too strong. I was never going to give up.
When I had delayed recovery I realised that something wasn't right. I now know that I have a connective tissue disorder that has me pretty much house bound. I have extensive degeneration and brittle bones and have had my spine repaired twice as the brain / spinal fluid has been leaking out of the dura. It now seems i either have another leak or an instability in my head and neck that means I struggle to hold it up.
My priority is my family. I have had to stop working and have no life outside of the home, except to attend appointments.
I have been missing out on attending my childrens activities. I have made a commitment to rest and plan in order to be there for them.
We have also made the huge shift of accepting help from neighbours and friends. That was a big one for us.
It has not only helped us get by, but has taught us a lot about the goodness in people if you allow them into your life.

@girlbeforemirror, I'm so sorry hearing about your health issues. I hope things would get better pretty soon.

welcome, more success to you my dear one.

limitless thinking is the way to go....
the determination to achieve starts from the mind,
we need to remove all the thoughts of limits to achieve greatness,
the bigger hero for me from your post is the teacher Anne Sullivan who was not limited with the conventional ways of teaching.
thank you for sharing.

Thanks for reading this @epikcoin. I wonder why people don't remember her when they keep talking about the success of Keller. That woman is truly great.

This is really encouraging and mind blowing. You have a testimony that can be shared to motivate other Nigerians.

I could afford all that from my earnings here.

Yes. Steemit has really helped me a lot. Thanks for reading @turpsy.

We're in a world of limitless possibilities, no one can be incapacitated in all these possibilities, self determination is one virtue which should be inherently nurtured inside everyone alive, limitation is a mere mirage born of inferiority complexes. Thanks @ogoowinner for such an insight, one thing about you is that you doesn't just write posts, whatever you post here is one way or the other a reflection of your life experience.

On my side; I considered my inability to achieve my dreamed educational career due to some factors that time may not permit me to put down here, but today I'm a happy man who is equal if not above my peers, reason is simple; when I realized that everything that I might be in life are already packaged in me, I took that awesome understanding and strived until I broke out of my so called limitations, today I'm one of them who can boldly say that life is full of limitless possibilities!

You're way better than most Nigerian graduates. Thanks for reading this bro.

🙏🏽 Not by power, grateful to God, family and friends like you.

Just as the saying goes, "when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. We tend to become weary in no
time when working on our goals or occupations creating an irresistible energy putting wings that will allow us to fly beyond all
self-imposed limitations. Lovely write up

Lovely comment. Thanks for reading @chidiebere.

Helen Keller's story is truly a great example to use. A lot of people want the easy and fast way. I think it may be because the world is too immersed in a fast-paced lifestyle that's heavily influenced by technology that made a lot of things easier. It took some effort away that learning of persistence, patience, and hardwork being important took a back seat. And people are less likely to sacrifice something to get anywhere like what you did staying up and all. Very inspiring post. I hope more people take a leaf off of your page.

I totally agree with you @unspeakableme. This days, people want it very fast and easy too. No one wants to make a sacrifice. There is always a price for everything good.

Thanks for your comment here.

Thanks, Helen Keller I understand was an amazing person. One of my business mentors, Robert Hollis, says what blocks success for many people are their limiting beliefs or "stinking thinking".

Amazing how your mindset can change things. Thanks again for posting this and have a great day. Following you!
