It is indeed a Man's World

I was sitting in my room this afternoon when my neighbor walked in angrily, I questioned her about what could be the reason for the sad face and she said she was reading a post on face book and a guy was insulting ladies who do not know how to cook as he said that every lady who does not know how to cook is useless. He went further by saying, if as a guy he can cook then he sees no reason why any lady should not know how to cook.

Another guy agreed to what he said and continued by saying do you expect a man to go out to bring money and still not meet a good meal.

I am not saying it is proper for a lady not to know how to cook, but why is it one sided, why is it that every guy who doesn't know how to cook too be regarded as been useless?.

I have argued constantly with my friends that this world we live in,is a Man's world especially in Nigeria where the wife is expected to act as the maid in the home.

Some men in Nigeria feel that their wives should not get a maid to help her with house chores for reasons best known to them.

You see a Nigerian woman who just has two kids and she is already looking haggard and unkempt, at first sight it is normal to put blames on her for not taking proper care of herself but when you get get close to her you will then realize that she needs to play the role of a mother, wife and maid.

She goes to work on week days and return home in the evening to prepare dinner for the family before she retires to bed tired only to wake up very early the next morning to prepare breakfast, get the kids ready for school, get herself ready for work and drop the kids off at school.

During weekends, when she thinks she should take out time to rest, her husband invites friends and families home for a feast where she has to cook and clean up when the feast is over. This same man begins to complain that she doesn't satisfy him in bed and that is an excuse for him to start cheating.

The frustrated woman decides to quit her job in order to keep her home and maintain her sanity, only then will the man realize that the woman has been covering up for most expenses with her money even without asking him . The responsibility of providing for the family alone finally dawns on him and he becomes an angry and frustrated man. Everyone will then begin to accuse the wife of being a lazy woman who just sits at home without raising a finger to support the husband financially.

Have you even heard of stories of successful women who get criticized because they are wealthy, people have the mentality that even if the woman is wealthy, she is supposed to subject to her husband who will in turn Lord over her, any woman who claims right over her possession in some side of the globe is referred to as being proud.

But the big question here is, is it right or normal to just live that way and have that mentality continually.
