The ancient Abbey of Whitby

At one point this Abbey housed both nuns and monks ! Indeed it had a abbess which is a female equivalent of an abbott.

It makes me a bit sad to see ruins. I wish somehow there were lesser ruins and the people who were at this abbey kept it and it was like it may have been all along. This is why it seems so sad; the ruins.

Well it was built a long time ago. Nothing lasts forever. But it does look sad doesn't it
