Το ονομα της που ξεκιναει απο Σιν σημαινει ηλιος και το τελιο Ασσος ειναι ενδικτικη καταληξη τοπωνυμιων και πολεων οπως Μαμασσος , Αλικαρνασσος , Παρνασσος δηλαδη Σινασσος= Ηλιουπολη..
