SOCIAL ANXIETY

It is a persistent fear of one or more  situations in which the person is exposed to possible scrutiny by others  and fears that he or she may do something or act in a way that will be  humiliating or embarrassing. Those who suffer from social anxiety disorder fear being judged by others in society  wikipedia

Recently, i have found my self avoiding meeting a certain kind of people, actually people in general. This has not always been the case because i am a people person, until recently.

You go out, meet really cool set of people, all seemingly accomplished with couple of projects going on, their lives are set. You engage in really meaningful conversations and then the ULTIMATE and favorite question of all time pops up, "So, what do you do?"

Before my social anxiety creep-ed in, i absolutely had no problem in answering this. I simply would tell them I am a nurse, Business woman, public health specialist, and whatever tittle that i felt fit, because they all define what i do/supposed to be doing. The other person will still seem interested, and ask more.

The next question would then be, "where are you working, who..... "AND its at this point i will just be like No, i am not employed at the moment, a bit of freelancing, looking for opportunities and growing my small business as i move forward to my next phase in life.

Its at this moment that things change, for better or worse. lol. If i do not match up to their standards and expectations, There suddenly  would be  a change of attitude. Unless they are very good at hiding it, you will  notice that the tone and pace of the conversation will change, . Or even if it doesnt change, that person will have placed you somewhere, in a certain social category that is lesser than theirs, and undeserving of their full respect.

Can you relate to what i am even ranting about? somebody? anybody?

In the middle of writing this , i came across this photo from Yyvone Nelson on IG and i just thought it was super timely. Am not the only one who feels that way after all.

You forgot to include: where are you from?

Especially here in the Philippines, they can ask stupid and annoying questions.

I get pissed with anyone asking such questions to me.

The other times, I shouted at a guy who dont even know me, he just met me and boom he asked : hi my friend, where are you from?

I replied: I am from your eyes.

Lol

He got mad.

Haha, he at least said hi, you know. Most times i get those who don't even bother to say hi and just bombard u with "where are you from", and i stand there in the middle of confusion on what to answer. Whether to be nice Or not.

Lol

This days I am not nice anymore

Once I got that kind of question:
I will ask back: why?

Lol
