Seagrass Armless Dining Room Chairs VS Real Life (and a Cat)

in life •  7 years ago

My cat was rescue . We adopted her as a kitten from the local SPCA. She was found in a feral cat colony (or whatever a ton of cats living together in a shipping container is called). She was a great cat - back when I had 100 acres of land that needed her skills. Now that shes no longer on the farm - she sits around all day doing nothing- except perhaps planning ways to vex me. With no mice to catch in the house - she has plotted and executed a plan to destroy my dining room chairs.

Seagrass Armless Dining Room Chairs

Seagrass dining room chairs are beautiful. When we purchased these we knew that there would be a lot of wear and tear. Rather than forking out the dough for Pottery Barn chairs - we opted for a cheap look alike and as you can tell from the images below - it was a smart decision.

Dining Room Chairs For The Meticulous

It's always interesting to see how well furniture pieces and home decor fare in real world situations. Pinterest and Instagram are full of pictures of this! Some people have expensive white carpet as well as dogs and kids. If you look at anything up close it doesn't look as pretty as it does in the pictures. We were pretty sure that Seagrass would be an epic fail in our house long term - but we found 6 of these dining room chairs for about $50 bucks each (as opposed to $200+ each at Pottery Barn or elsewhere) so it was worth a shot.

If you have a cat who is sinister - Seagrass armless chairs will look good for the short term so try to save some money. They still look great from a few feet away (i'm sure most people don't notice) - but be forewarned - these dining room chairs are meant for grown ups!

This is the reason we can't have nice things!

Well,... its the reason we can't have fragile, showy, shows-all-the-dirt things. Why do these things even exist?

I think showy/expensive home decor is meant to be more inspirational (or aspirational) than practical. You see this in fashion as well - a couture dress could be thousands of dollars and worn once or twice.
