Hello!
I've been reading and studying more than usual lately. So I recently came across a book by Tony Robbins in which he named speed reading as one of his daily habits. Although the subject was not entirely unknown to me, I thought I'd research it a little more thoroughly this time and start a training program. After all...
...There's no smoke without fire and it doesn't hurt to try.
Speed reading is any of the several techniques used to improve one's ability to read quickly. Speed reading methods include chunking and minimizing subvocalization.Wikipedia
To start a training program I searched for an app on Playstore and trained for 5 min for the last 15 days. The exercises consist of memorizing texts, numbers, finding and pairing numbers, and letters and words. All of this by being monitored by a timer and giving signs of my progress (if so) at the end of each round.
I still can't read 1500 words per minute, far from it, but I've noticed many improvements in me. I'm a person who loves to read but I tend to get distracted and forget information easily. Since my daily training, I've seen that I've been able to read faster, my concentration level is higher and the retention of information has become easier to achieve.
The practice of speed reading has its followers and haters. This is why I decided to see for myself its effects on me. My goals are not to read 1500 words per minute, but to make productive use of the time I invest daily in learning different areas of my interest. I think this has been helping me to achieve this.
Have you tried speedy reading? What are your thoughts about it?
I'd love to read your comments!
Best regards.
