The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't said.
-Peter Drucker

Non-verbal communication makes up 85% of what an audience takes away from an interaction. Non-verbals include body language, facial expressions, mannerisms, etc.

Basically, how you act has a much bigger effect on people than what you say.

Learning how to read the cues of non-verbal communication will help you navigate social interactions more effectively.

That’s what I'm here for.

People closing their body is a negative reaction (intimidated, threatened, etc.) to something or someone. Examples are crossing their arms, touching their face, and slouching.

People opening their body is a positive reaction (attracted to, like, comfortable with) to something or someone. Examples are spreading their arms, spreading their legs, and putting their hands behind their head.

Learn the cues. Learn how people react to you, verbally and non-verbally.

Most importantly, adjust your approach accordingly.

I will cover more body language tips in future posts.

Whatever you need, gather it. Whatever you want, chase it. Whenever you can, give it back.

This is so true! I always find that people's body language speaks louder than words.

Absolutely. I never thought it would be as high as 85% though! Amazing.
