On 19th November, the 14th annual edition of the most anticipated marathon in Uganda was underway.
It is organised as a charity event where the collected sums of money go to a particular cause for example cancer, building schools and much more. This year was different, as one registered to take part in the marathon, he or she chose a cause they will be supporting. "Run for your cause" it was called.
I hadn't been running for a while but I was dared by some friends since they insisted that however much I am an afande (soldier) with all that training, they will still beat me.
I could not bow out of this. I had to show them that even when I am rusty, I still can beat them to the finish line.
On Friday the 17th which was actually the closing day of registration, I registered my cause which was to get rid of asbestos roofs that some schools around Kampala still have.
I am happy that I contributed towards a cause I believe in but I am more happy that beat all those that dared me.
All in all, it was a fun day though I am still nursing crumps.
That's me with my friends after the 10km run.
