Here in Costa Rica is the worlds only University established solely to promote peace through education. The university has been in existence for 35 years, mandated by The United Nations.
Just this week Tibetan lama Thubten Wangchen, special representative to the Dali Lama visited Costa Rica, making the university his first engagement, full of praise for their work, telling Costa Rican’s how lucky they are to be Costa Rican’s.
They offer online courses as well as onsite and are well worth looking into, wherever you are in the world.
I am under no illusions - The United Nations may not have the best record overall for commitment to peace - I have myself once stood in their offfices asking for political asylum only to be told it was a question of money and the highest bidder wins - BUT still I would like to think this organization here in Costa Rica helps somewhat to improve that record through its efforts and education programs. If a single person can be educated to lead a better life of peace then it is all worth while in my humble opinion. Every positive step counts.
