STAYING RELEVANT IN A CHANGING WORLD

Your wealth lies in the things you know, not what you possess because what you possess could become obsolete one day.

I remember several years ago, people who studied "shorthand" in my school were hot cake, why?because it was so demanding then, but today those who studied and got a certificate for studying "shorthand" are not needed anymore, Because the knowledge of shorthand they had is no longer relevant in our world today.

The same thing happened to those who had big positions in post offices several years ago. Today those positions are no longer relevant because there are technologies (Yahoo and Gmail) that have made post office job obsolete.

It's not enough having an asset, a certificate or some knowledge about whatever you do, you need to constantly keep yourself updated with changes in technology and needs of the people, else one day you'll wake up and find out that you that was once the richest man on that street, is now the first richest man on the street.

There are assets and school certificates that will not be needed in some years to come, there are people that will lose their jobs soon, because of how technology is developing rapidly every day.

The same thing is happening in the crypto space, there are coins that were our top 10 some time ago, now they are not even our top 20, there are coins that did 1000% that would likely not do 100% anytime soon, there are social networks that were hot cake that will no longer be hot cake in some years time.

How to stay relevant in this rapid change

The world is changing rapidly with technology, now we are having almost everything being decentralized by Blockchain technology.

Those who had early good knowledge of how these technologies works are millionaires today. Blockchain Technology is currently making those who didn't go to school or finish school become millionaires today.

A good example is steemit. those who got in early and bought thousands of steem Power are millionaires today because they probably studied it early enough and got in at a good price.

So in order to maintain the value of your assets or the value of your skill or get into something that will be valuable tomorrow, you'll need to;

1. Increase your skills and Get better at what you do

In my last business talk with some youths in uyo, I told them

what differentiates a rich man from a poor man are the things the rich man knows that the poor man Doesn't know.

Knowledge is the currency that can get you wealth and money. If you know you Want to remain relevant and valuable in your office or in your world, you'll need to get knowledge about what you do so you can improve your skills.

Take more courses online or offline. free tutorials might not be good enough, but if you find some good free tutorials, take advantage of them, make your skills better and sharper.

The more you get better at what you do, the more valuable you will become.

The more skills you gain, the more you'll grow in demand. You can get so good to the point that people cannot do without you.

That can only happen when you constantly feed yourself with new courses that will sharpen your skills.

There are hundreds of videos on YouTube and some in dtube that can help you get better at what you do.

Just look for a technology that is providing solutions presently with great future plans, learn about that technology, register for courses that will help you learn how to use the technology.

2. make sure your business is on the Internet

According to research, by 2020 the world will have up to 5 billion people using the Internet, this is a huge market and any good business person should take advantage of this huge market.

Trading with three billion of people will be easy because we have Blockchain technologies that can handle millions of transactions at rest.

Some of such technologies are bitshares, steem and soon EOS can handle millions of transactions.

So if your business is not on the Internet or you're on the Internet and have not started thinking about using any of these technologies, then you might soon run out business.

3. know when to switch

I don't know if I should call this one a skill, but it's very important to know when to either switch from one business to another or when to switch from one service delivery method to another type of service delivery method.

Technology is always changing, new ways of doing things come up every day. Learn to be updated and updated on time.

4. build a good network

A tree cannot make a forest, the same way you can't be the only one running your business. You can't be the CEO, manager etc all by yourself.

Build a team of people you think will help grow your skills and business.

5. keep studying more

This is like the most important of them all, no matter how good your team is, no matter what you studied before starting your business, if you don't continue studying, you'll become outdated with time.

SUMMARY :

Don't be that man or woman that will be remembered as the man that was once rich, keep yourself and your business updated with latest changes in technology and make sure your team is growing too with what is happening in the business world. if one part of the team is outdated, it will affect the entire output of your work.

There is no end to learning and we should always have room for improvement

This is great

Improvement = development

You said it all bruv! I would recommend the books "The richest man in Babylon" and "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" for anyone who hasn't read them and who loves this post. They'll be greatly blessed by both, I was!

Yes, those books are great

They most definitely are! Thanks

Technology is a very fast moving train, it's either you keep up or get left behind. if one doesn't evolve to stay important in his or her field, will wake up one day and find his or herself highly irrelevant.

Very true

Lovely article. Very well said.
Being updated is the key. We have seen Nokia go obsolete and many more which we don't even know.
I see Facebook going down 5 years later. Only unless they decide to change and update.

Facebook is currently working on something, but I don't trust what they are working on because it might still be centralized in a way

Sure it will be centralized. And thus we see new and amazing platforms. Are we up for an EOS based platform soon ?

Eos? I think so

You very correct @samstickkz, people who were busy making much money from post office business are now home without jobs cus of internet... Hmmmm... Food for thought indeed...
