Actions Speak Louder Than Words

The difference between what one says and what one does is as stark as night and day. Words mean nothing in today’s world which is full of people that are ready to deceive you at a moment’s notice.

It’s a sad reality and one might say that I’m being pessimist here but haven’t you noticed the same in your own life too? Growing up, we get enough experiences that are enough to let you know that people are more like chameleon these days. They change colors depending on their own selfish needs.

I’m not saying that there aren’t good people in the world. In fact, I would like to believe (or hope rather) that there are more good people than bad and I can say that I’m lucky enough to know quite a few good people in my life too. But there are enough bad people in the world to make me concerned.

That is why I think we should all have the ability to understand people better. I know it can be really difficult. Even psychologists do not fully understand human behavior but there might be a helpful trick.

Observe What People Say and Do

woman-1445917_1280.jpg

If you want to know what a person is like, you need to observe what they say and what they actually do. Actions always speak louder than words. Somehow, our actions always tell the truth because we act according to our motives.

I want to repeat myself: words do not mean anything in today’s world. Promises made these days are mostly empty and people will say anything to fulfill their own agenda. It’s a world full of two-faced people, or rather multi-faced to be more accurate.

So, if you want to truly know and understand someone, notice their behavior towards you and towards others. This shows their character and true intentions and will let you know if they are worth your time and effort.

Life is too short to be wasted on people who will just try to use you and be done with you when you have nothing left to offer. So, be cautious of who you let in, in your life. You don’t want to be a chewing gum!

Be Careful With Your Own Actions Too

pinky-swear-329329_1280.jpg

While it is important to observe other people, it is more important to observe yourself too. Make sure your actions match with what you say to people.

For example, if you love someone, only saying it is not enough. You have to prove it with your actions continuously, or the other person might not believe that your love for them is true. It’s very important in any relationship to show your feelings through your actions, not just words.

Similarly, don’t make promises you can’t keep. Doing so will only make people trust you less and as we all know, trust is like a paper. Once it is crumpled, it can never be perfect again.

It is always wise to be absolutely honest, no matter how much the truth could hurt. At least, you won’t keep people in the dark and dangling for hope where there is none.

Talk is cheap, it's easy for people to talk about things and build mountains with their mouth.

The best way to maintain integrity is keeping to our words

not agree if you talk cheap then u should start learn to talk :X : :X

Yeah, anybody can say the grandest of things, but actually doing it is a totally different thing.

I agree that loyalty and keeping words is very hard to come by now, and it seems everyone has a motive behind their kindness. Staying guarded gets exhausting.

Loyalty is a rare thing in today's world. You are absolutely right that there is always a motive behind kindness in today's people. As long as you are doing something for somebody, they will keep being kind to you, otherwise, they will simply forget you and find someone else to do their bidding.

i agree also when you speak Louder people start feeling annoyance

haha they sure do!

What a sensible post this is! Thank you for writing this awesome article. This is the most important thing to watch in today's world. This is a true read in steemit.

Thank you so much for the kind words :) I really appreciate it.

@sauravrungta. Times really have changed, back in the good old days when you could get a measure of a Man by his Words. The days of the Complete Gentleman whose words given in promise was his bond. Now we have to match words with actions or risk getting burned by misplacing our trust on those not worthy of it.

Times sure have changed. Words given by people can simply not be trusted anymore. Only trust those who have a record of backing their words with action.

Actions always speak louder than words.
That's indeed always important to keep in mind. I love this also "trust is like a paper. Once it is crumpled, it can never be perfect again."
I actually didn't know that! That's a new one for me and I will use it for sure.

I am glad you found my words interesting :)

Like they say actions speak louder than words. I would say maintain distance and avoid trusting blindly.

Those are true words of wisdom. Avoid trusting people blindly.

What you say is true. Know though that over 90% of communication is non-verbal. Our mouth is a filter or censor for our thoughts (For those who have a filter). Otherwise we have an epidemic of Diarrhea of the mouth. That becomes repulsive and disgusting and inhibits effective intellectual intercourse. Of course silence is a form of speaking as well, unless that silence is silenced and worthwhile stimuli comes erupting. Thanks for your Steemit eruption of thought. May it provoke a volcano of response.

You always have such nice things to say and I am glad you could provide your insight on this :)

I alway say so. ”Actions speak louder than words “

Yup. It's really true.

Dedication always gets the job done, no matter how difficult. I thank you for your kind words :)

You are totally right! Saying words is extremely easy, taking action on the other hand requires hard work!

I have seen even some family members say something, and then doing the complete opposite of what they were saying. In other words, honesty is something we need to cherish because it’s not as common as we would like to believe.

I totally agree. Saying this is always easy. Takes no effort. That is why most people make empty promises they have no intention of keeping.

@sauravrungta honesty is the best policy ever.

True that!

Hello man,

nice post, from psychological point of view. Words are just part of our communcation and most of people think that speaking is way how to express ourselves but listening is equal. And both are linked to action, which matters not just to us but as you said in your post, to other people! I posted similair post to you and It is called power of our own words, so I hope you will take your time and enjoy that...

Agreed. Listening and speaking go together with action. Action is the third element most people miss.

As say in India "तैयारी इतनी खामोशी के साथ करो कि सफलता तहलका मचा दे ."(Prepare with so much silence that success can make your fame.)

Yeah, don't say anything. Just let your actions make the noise.

As they say there "actions make hearts", things have to be demonstrated with facts not with words because in doing them you say a lot.

Exactly. I am glad you agree :)

Very nice! Lots to agree with. You're hitting on some fundamental wisdom about living a better life--I think lots of traditions and thinkers would agree with you.

Thanks for the kind words. I tend to write about things I observe in real life :)

People say things and make promises they have no intention of keeping on a daily basis. You can tell someone you love him or her as many times as you want, but until your behavior coincides with that, the other person will probably not believe you.

Exactly!! You always have to use your actions to prove your words. Sad that most people don't.

yah people forget about this so many times

It's rare to find a person that's true to their word. With the rise of the internet and a serious lack of leadership at home, more and more people are treating their word as "whatever".

While it is important to observe other people, it is more important to observe yourself too.

This right here is why a lot of people don't seem to realize they're being a bunch of knuckleheads.

I really agree that words have become "whatever" these days and yeah the lack of introspection really drives me mad.

I won't beat around the bush, I was the type of person that never kept his word. When my dad told me what his dad said about a man not keeping their word, it stuck to me.

I do everything in my power to keep my word these days. I might be late but I am true to my word.

In past it was said in India "Praan Jaaye par Vachan na jaaye" means "Your promises (words) are of greater value than your own life" but in Present, the action matters most as People just keep saying whatever comes in mind at that time but when it comes of doing it, there are excuses and blah blah blah !!

Times sure have changed since ancient times. These days, words (or promises) are the first thing that people abandon.

I prefer people who shows results with their action than just talk and talk about things that can never happen.

Exactly. Me too!! Hate people who are just talk and no action.

They say being the last to speak is key

True that! This is something I read about in one of those leadership books.

A deep thought! Really liked it:)

Thank you :)

Thank you for bringing this up!
This is something me and my husband are discussing a lot. I am trying my best do do more actions than talking, for me the most common thing seems to be the opposite many times.

In my life, I do not feel good if I for example say I will do something and do not execute it. It is the same as lying to myself which always will have a negative impact in some way or another in my life.

I believe it can be an extremely harmful thing to have the bad habit to talk and without doing.

We need to learn how to be true to ourselves, always and in every way.

Truth is the answer to everything.
Thank you for good reading!
Have an amazing day!

I agree that saying something and not doing it is like lying to yourself. And thanks for the kind words :)

WORDS IS POWER. IT HAS A POWER TO RUIN OUR BEING. IT HAS POWER TO BLESS, TO LOVE AND TO INSPIRE.

I LOVE PHILOSPHY @sauravrungta

thanks. me too!

So true. With the influence of social media nowadays everybody is hooked up on displaying public affection. Not realizing that love is not about words but showing in real actions how much you love a person.

So, so true! Love is about making the other person feel special again and again through your actions. Just saying it doesn't prove it.

Yes no matter how many times you will say "I love you" if you didnt show it personally then it would never make sense at all. As in never. One could only justify ones words through actions.

True that :)

This is my favourite quote since childhood :)

Yeah, it's one with deep meaning.

I read all your lines very carefully. All the rows tell about their own characteristics. What has been said in these lines is true. I have received inspiration from these lines. Humans should never give up

Thank you for reading. I'm glad you liked it :)

My Dad always told me: "People say a lot of things... But how much of it is true?" That always sticks with me. It's true that people will tend to shape their words to suit their needs, but I have found that they may also maipulate their actions in the same way. Of course there are many reasons why people do it, some nefarious while other do it as a defence in order to avoid a confrontation. Hence why it's always best to stick with people whose words and actions maintain parity :)

Exactly. There are all kinds of people. Better surround yourself with ones that stick to their words.

totally agree! I've always believed there's more value (and effort) behind walking the talk, than simply talking the talk.

It's easy to say things, but it's a lot harder to match your words with actions.

That's why I learned to take what people with a grain of salt and learned to associate myself with "doers" rather than "talkers"

It sure takes effort, that's why most people don't do it. lol But yeah, there are also people who do and it's better to surround yourself with those kind of people.

I would also say that once you decide that someone is trustworthy or isn't it shows badly on you if you treat them the opposite. If all a person's actions and words show you that they love you but you still doubt them then it makes you the kind of person that they should not trust absolutely. People do strange things when they are suspicious that someone will hurt them and that kind of relationship can hurt the person who is trustworthy.

Good post
