If you are anything like me, you're all about figuring out ways to keep your life tidy without crossing Type A territory.
This is why I enjoy discovering new cleaning and organizational hacks whenever I can.
Luckily for you, I have a handful of hacks that are simple but will seem like common sense once you read about them.
Ready to discover them?
Declutter your space= declutter your mind
It’s so important to keep your work space clean, tidy, and organized.
Why? Well, according to the ever-famous cleaning Japanese organizing consultant and author Marie Kondo : a cluttered space is a reflection of a cluttered mind.
Think about it : how can you concentrate on your tasks if your work space is overflowing with papers and unnecessary items around you?
A clean tidy work space keeps your creativity and your ideas flowing.
Whether your work space is in an office 20 minutes away from your house or if it’s actually in your house, the key is to keep it tidy.
You can do this by :
- Taking 5 minutes per day to completely wipe off and sanitize your desk
- Getting rid of anything that doesn’t belong there that is causing clutter
- Setting some time aside this week to include things that will inspire you as you work. (example photos, fancy pens etc)
Fold Your Clothes With Meaning
Yep, this hack seems like a pretty basic one, but you'd probably be surprised with how many people actually fold their clothes in an extremely sloppy way (guilty!)
Kondo's key principle is to discard anything that doesn't give you joy (or you don't plan on wearing anytime soon) and fold them in a way that'll optimize your clothing space :
By doing this, you'll create more breathing room for your clothes
Do a weekly pantry audit
If you're constantly cooking, chances are you're spending a lot of time in your kitchen. Which means lots of multi tasking taking place.
The last thing you need is having to ransack your pantry all the time!
Set aside one day each week to keeps tabs on what's missing and what needs to be tossed in your pantry.
By doing so, you'll
- save money by avoiding buying doubles of something (looking at you pasta box!)
- optimize your time at the grocery store.
Win/Win
These are just some simple hacks to stay both clean and organized in little areas of your life.
When you keep the little things in your life in order, you will free your life of stress and clutter.
